The TUI Concert or How I Learned that Straight Edge People are Fucks.
Went to see Trapped Under Ice, Backtrack, Take Offense, Hundreth and Betrayal on Thursday night.
The original venue is closing and so this show had to be moved last minute and so the guys found a new upstart venue out in the suburbs, a ballet dance studio.
Take Offense plays awesome hardcore with thrash riffs. Couldn't tell if the guitarist was a skin or not. He had his oi! boots and jeans rolled up. Betrayal is fucking boring. Backtrack's recent album Darker Half is pretty awesome but live they weren't that great. All the while, I'm kinda pissed off because people are doing hardcore moshing which essentially is eight dudes standing in the circle swinging their fists like they are trying to start a lawnmower. It's fucking absurd looking. I prefer metal pits where people are shoving into each other and at worst, a friend grabs you and runs with you. One guy thought he would be cool and was running into the walls and put a hole in one wall and ran into a wall of mirrors as if it wouldn't shatter. Luckily it didn't. We're not going to be able to use this venue in the future. Whatever, fuck hardcore moshing.
Hundreth plays awesome melodic hardcore and I never fucking like melodic hardcore. During their set, though, I was surprised by tons of people running up to where the band was playing and out the back door of the venue. I think it's like Kvelertak running through Converge's set streaking but I was wrong. One of my friend comes up to where my other friends and I were standing, watching Hundreth and begins telling us how we need to get the fuck out of there fast because SOSF came in and started beating the shit out of people, saying that some guy was just laying on the ground getting his face kicked in. I begin hearing screaming and turn around to see eight huge guys or so wearing black carhart jackets and ski masks barge in. One guy punches the sound guy in the side of the head. Hundreth stops playing and their is an awkward stare down between the crowd listening to the music, which is a much larger crowd than the group who got beat up in the other room where the merch was being sold. Everybody huddles up by the stage keeping their distance and the guys leave after a few seconds of shoving people.
My friends and I stay put, hoping TUI will still play, and the venue guy comes over and says they won't and so we start to walk out and there is a guy covered in his own blood, looking like Akerfeldt at 2005's Wacken, soaked in blood; it covering his white shirt entirely. I bumped into him and instantly felt sick. One guy's whole left side of his face was covered in blood. One girl was saying how she just watched her friend get repeatedly punched in the face and she was too small to do anything but everyone else who could have helped ran away. Cops and ambulances began showing up as I was walking out.

Prior to this, I had no idea about SOSF or Courage Crew (learned wtf this stupid hardcore bullshit was through urban dictionary the next day) but the fact that the fuckers made me miss seeing TUI makes me fucking hate them.
