Thou//Salome's Our Enemy Civilization split. Just listening to the Thou while The Archer and the Owle finishes downloading. Apparently most of Thou's releases, which is a huge number given how prolific they are, are free online: http://noladiy.org/thoupast.html

Really sludgy, crushing doom.

Yep. Its good stuff and since you are into really crushing death/doom you'd probably like the guys that inspired my screen name Aldebaran.

Too plodding for my liking. It kept the slow pace but never went into a crescendo which I need after such a drag. Beneath Oblivion does that well. Thou isn't as slow and hence they never have to build up to anything; they just chug along.

Thou's newest EP.

Love the riff on Voices in the Wilderness. Second cover of Nirvana's Something in the Way I've listened to this week, first, hardcore and now doom.

I need to dig into Harvey's back catalog. I always focus on Rid of Me but those other three of her first four are equally good. Oh my, look at me Wally, flaunting how I don't listen to metal

Jucifer is so fucking underrated on these forums. I don't know how people who like sludge, doom or stoner metal not enjoy them. They are like a heavily distorted High on Fire with lady Venom vox.

More d-beat melodic hardcore in the vein of Trap Them, Nails, or Cursed.

More heavy as fuck hardcore. Ambassador Gun has more of a crust punk sound perhaps. Shit is good regardless. I had been blaring this in my car for the last few months on cassette and finally found an internet download for it. They just announced another split coming out in January and recording of their next full length beginning in January.

Kinda love how I bought my copy in London and Window Media Player recognizes it as the UK Edition. I don't know why people hate the song Missing so much I kinda dig it. Album is kinda poppy but compared to stuff like Lacuna Coil or other random pop influenced metal this album is awesome. Nowhere near the quality of Draconian or Icon but a great album nonetheless.

In Requiem is better albeit not as traditionally heavy as Faith/Death.

I'm surprised you guys still listen to Paradise Lost. I loved Icon and liked Draconian but have failed to enjoy much by them afterwards.

Those two albums, In Requiem and Faith/Death are all I listen to. They aren't amazing but they aren't bad by any means. They provide a doom-y gothic metal vibe without having the slow, meandering riffs of crushing doom. I dig it.

Fair enough, I remember sleepwalking through Symbol of Life and Believe in Nothing, but can't recall really listening to the two you named. I'll give them another try.

Going through my electronic collection and now:

Once a massive Borknagar fan, and now I'm rediscovering them.

Yeah, I listed to these two new albums and found some good tracks on both of them. Sure they are four minute pop songs, so their replay is rather limited, but a very enjoyable "light stuff" break nonetheless. Thanks.

Letlive - Fake History

An album full of the high points of this album and with better production (it's not bad but could be better, drums aren't very natural sounding and guitars sound like a blob of noise sometimes) would be a favourite.
