Champagne is gross. Being a pimp, though, equals awesome, of course.

"Champagne - in victory i deserve it, in defeat i require it" - Napoleon or Churchill or some shit.

"My only regret in life is that I did not drink more Champagne” -John Maynard Keynes

it is a waste of money, though.

for pimps and people with too much money.

this year we sold very little champagne, but quite a bit of other sparkling wines, from France, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Argentina. people are wisening up to the fact that Champagne is generally ridiculously overpriced.

Finished 4 demos so far and they are all perfect. I generally only record the song up to the solo or another good spot to fade out. These things only need to be 1-2 minutes each, which is why. Hopefully no one will sue if it is only half the song for demo purposes:

Ayreon - Age Of Shadows (until the 1, 0, 1 part...yes all the vocal parts)

Labyrinth - State Of Grace (up to the solo)

Dream Theater - Finally Free (up to the "one last time" reprise)

Nevermore - Without Morals (the first verse and the first chorus

about 12 songs are done. Just gotta go back and replace a line here and there, remove coughing, throat clearing, mic noise ect during the mixing phase. Kind of like post production "pickup" shots for a movie. At least I breathe silently! I have to assume other people are putting that there for the sound effect it makes. I was lucky and was likely given an insane amount of steroids as a baby to strengthen my diaphragm and lungs due to them not being good enough to breath on my own when I was born. Unlimited power! arghhh!

A word to the wise. Buy a pop filter. You wouldn't believe how it smoothes out the sound. It's like a compressor in a way but it totally removes nasty harsh bursts of high frequency transients too. I recommend the Behringer X3500 dynamic mic. My voice sound golden through that motherfucker and it's only 22 bucks. It absolutely beats a shure 58 by a mile.

I've had Edguy's Children of steel chorus stuck in my head all night, because I've read something about a metallic (robotic) prothesis for children with a missing limb.

Come on. That's funny.

43 Songs are tracked. 11 are mixed and just need that last bit of tweaking and mastering.

I had a hard time figuring out between compression and the volume finding something that sounds good mixed together. I've been criticized for masking my faults with a weak overdub, volume wise.

I don't even think I used compression back then, but that is not the case this time. So heavily compressed and mixed with the original stereo tracks to -3 and myself at 2-db makes me seem far louder than the original but you can hear the song. The goal is to make it seem like someone just remixed the vocals of the original singer much louder. You can still hear them most of the time because of their effects and shit like that though.

My voice "sufffers" from a proximity effect due to the 3hz to >48Khz coverage my voice has. The headphones sound good then when I turn on the tower speakers my voice is 1000x louder. When I tone it down, I walk 10 feet away from the speakers and 1000x louder again. I am not in the business of EQing shit to death on these, so low and high passes are out too. In fact there aren't any effects or anything, just boost to zero, compression/limiting then a little BBE Sonic Maximizer at 1.5 and 2.5. That sonic maximizer is on too many fucking recordings for it to be labelled a crutch of any kind.

Was Cannabis Corpse always this good or did Randy Blythe's vox step it up a notch?
