Hearing right now, sounds like Windir, good stuff. And about DsO, words can't describe what I feel when I listen to their music. Especially the song Diabolus Absconditus.

Deathspell Omega is incredibly unique and unforgivably sinister. Their lyrical concepts are some of the best in the history of Metal. In regards to Mistur, if you like Windir, you should definitely check out Cor Scorpii. Fascinating music.

I've gotten out of Deathspell Omega phase. There are tens of hundreds of more sinister sounding bm bands, they just made it big because of their lyrical content and the fact they turned into a shitty Gorguts cover band on latter albums. SMRC is a swansong as far as I'm concerned.

Lyrical content is very important to me, and so is visual art. The whole concept and philosophy behind DsO is what makes them great. I don't doubt there are more "sinister sounding BM bands", and I'm glad you have evolved above us all Steve.

Well, since I don't really have the time to investigate further upon what other sinister-sounding bands there are above and beyond DsO, please enlighten me by some suggestions. There is no doubt that DsO are very original-sounding and that is one of the major key things I look for in bands. In any case, I look forward to your suggestions.

Inquisition's discography if you can mind the ritualistic vocals, they are the very definition of black metal. Very few bands can compare to Inquisition.

I've seen Inquisition live. I did not like them back then and my friend was saying "shame on you" for me not understanding their music. Ashmedi from Melechesh the vocalist and the main song-writer did not find them the least bit interesting (they were playing with Inquisition). Nonetheless, their latest offering (Inquisition's) in the last year or so I liked a lot but never was eager to purchase an album from them. I do agree they are an original act but the sophistication and most dark aspects of Deathspell Omega I believe are unmatched. Dagon's vocals are good too. We hung out with the guys from Wolves in the Throne Room, Melechesh and Inquisition in the after party. Good times. Primordial were playing the same night as well but I don't recall seeing them.

I think Steve was talking about the first Inquisition's albums, because Ominous Doctrines can barely be cataloged as "sinister sounding BM".

I would expect Ashmedi of all people to understand the Satanic message behind Inquisition. I am a big fan of Melechesh but even at their best they're not half as good as the riffs on Into the infernal regions and Magnificent glorification of Lucifer. Listen to their first three albums.
