L.A. Kings’ forward Dustin Penner hurt while eating pancakes

Sorry, Tompa.

Probably the highlight of his career with the Kings so far. The arena announcement of him being scratched for that game was met with loud cheers. God he's useless.

You're gonna do what I did last year, win the division but lose in the first round!

I'm looking forward it. This will be the first pool I ever came 1st in. You guys can have the playoffs, I'll take the trophy in my virtual case. :)

But, my team is too good to just curl up and die come playoff time.

Only time will tell.

Thanks, man! Not sure if I can guarantee it at this point with some of my players continuing to have lacklustre seasons (Getzlaf ).

Dev, the trophies in your virtual case are for playoffs not regular season. :P

Oh the Habs... Having a very bad season, which is bad, but you know, it happens. The problem is that our GM Pierre Gauthier is a complete moron who can't think more than one step ahead (and that one step ahead is usually "please please please don't fire me! Look! Shiny random shitty trade!"). Goddamn depressing. Now our team has no identity, no plan, no anything... We need Gauthier out before he does anything else that's stupid and someone else in.

I think his plan was to add size, no? Erik Cole, Rene Bourque both big guys that can skate. Sure they are far from the best big bodied forwards out there, but they are far from the worst. It's not easy to get prime young talent in the NHL anymore. Teams all want them, and make you pay a fortune to get them. I'm looking at Phil Kessel and his 50+ points so far this year as I type. At least Gauthier didn't trade for Gomez... You guys should make a statue if he can trade him away though.

Miss you Brahm.

Miss you too! Haven't been around here nearly enough.

Ya, that might be Gauthier's plan, and the Cole trade has worked out very well so far. But at the same time, he's traded our best playoff player, who is having a bad year, but then again, so is Bourque. He fired our coach before a morning skate and replaced him with a new one right before three of the toughest games of our schedule. He traded for Kaberle, tying up our salary cap problems even more and not fixing our power play, just like it happened in Boston and Carolina. It's also the manner in which he's been doing everything: He traded Cammy in between periods the day after Cammy said something controversial to the media, which is classless as fuck and terrible for team morale, he created this stupid language issue which he must have known was coming when he hired a unilingual coach and then threw Cunneyworth to the wolves.

And ya, you're absolutely right- there are no Kessels out there right now (unless Jeff Carter actually does want that trade, but he's injured). All the more reason to be patient, not trade left and right, and see how you can rebuild/what becomes available.

If Gauthier can trade Gomez, all is forgiven, ha.

Gauthier and Cunneyworth will most likely be gone by seasons end. I agree the Kaberle trade was stupid, unless you are Carolina. The Habs definitely have the right pieces going into the future like Proce, Subban, Patches, now Bourque, etc.. Just need a real offensive d-man to teach PK the ropes. Too bad Kabs shit the bed, again, and Markov is hurt all the time now. I'm mostly upset that Montreal has fallen in the standing and that Ottawa has taken their place. Sure the battle of Ontario is intense again, but the Montreal-Toroto rivalry is kinda fizzling out.

Oh well, still the trade deadline and the stretch run coming up. Aka when the Leafs play their best hockey. See you guys in April.

Go Leafs Go!

Ya, the Markov signing is obviously a terrible idea in retrospect, though I supported it at the time... If he's not back by next season... Well, then our power play is pretty fucked. And the power play's performance is the main difference between this year and last year. Hopefully we can get that Montreal/Toronto rivalry up again at some point by having a year we both actually make the playoffs...

In the meantime, Gomez will prove all the hatas wrong by scoring his goal of the season sometime in March. It will be glorious and oh so worth $7.5 million

Looking to do a 2-for-1 deal that involves Pacioretty and someone else from my roster. I've got Sharp coming off the IR and there isn't anyone I really want to drop to make room so send an offer my way if you're interested!

Was at the Leafs 1-0 win over Pittsburgh last night. Intense hockey. Got to meet Walter Gretzky.

Cool.

Have slacked off on hockey unfortunately, got an eye-opener after a disappointing bachelor paper, so I have to focus on school. Still catch the odd game. Can't wait until school is over so I can focus on the more important things in life.

Well you're lucky you've been ignoring this year, the Canes suck.

Big 5-0 win over Ottawa tonight. 48 save shut-out for Reimer.
