A shitty line up!? You're paying to see Slayer, Motorhead, Anthrax and High on Fire. I don't give a fuck about the other bands that is a fucking awesome show.

Slayer are washed up as fuck, and Anthrax are not good enough to shell out fifty dollars to see mallcore bands. There are so many good tours this summer, that one is one of the worst.

It might be as good as it gets for me, relatively close anyways. I'm having to drive a ways to see Watain and Behemoth. No other tours near here so far for this year. Still early.

Saw a tuba concerto last night. It was awesome. Makes me want to be creative. Sitting in on my girlfriend's trombone masterclass where she and other students performed then critiqued each other was really cool and inspiring too.

Saw Death Angel, Testament and Anthrax Saturday night. I really never got into Death Angel so they were kinda so-so. Didn't put on a bad performance by any means but their songs seem overly long.

Testament was pretty awesome. Gene Hoglan was filling in for whoever their drummer is. I can't remember. He did the same for Benante (?) later on in the night. Yeah, Gene Hoglan was awesome. I think he rode the double bass more than either band usually does but that's his style. He drums so non-chalantly like it ain't no thing. Barely breaks a sweat after two sets. His drums have such a nice sound especially compared to Death Angel guy's.

As for Testament, Skolnick seems like he's not super into metal anymore. He's too smile-y and chill. Still a badass though. Overall, just solid stuff from them. Great setlist and a great performance. The same could be said about Anthrax. Didn't love how many new tracks they played but go figure they're touring for that album. Scott Ian called the crowd out for being lame and then shit got pretty intense in terms of moshing.

The worst part about the concert was the audience. Everyone was kinda being assholes compared to the people who go to death metal shows. Tons of forty to fifty year old men, drunk and trying to relive their youth. It was a constant wrestling for spots that distracted me from the performance. By the time, Anthrax got to the good stuff like Indians I just headed for the pit. My ability to hang with huge motherfuckers impressed even myself.

Seen performances in the last week of stuff by John Cage, Iannis Xenakis, Arvo Part, and a couple local composers. Other than one really painful long and boring piece, it's all been quite awesome. (It was a New Music festival and the featured composer was John Bryar who it turns out I am not a huge fan of at all since none of the three pieces of his I saw were very good.)

Concert date was just announced in Cincy for this lineup:

Cannibal Corpse
The Black Dahlia Murder
Nile
Exhumed
Skeletonwitch
Hour of Penance
Abysmal Dawn
Arkaik

I've never seen CC so I'm stoked. Hour of Penance surely has to put on an awesome show as well. They are so fucking good. I've seen Nile and Skeletonwitch before so that'll be fun once again. Can't wait for BLACK. SEEDS. OF VENGEANCE. Don't know anything about Dawn or Arkaik. I may just sneak in late and catch their sets late. I don't know what to expect from Exhumed to be honest. Never checked them out, know they do classic Swedish dm, but who knows what they'll be like live? And BDM hopefully sounds like Arsis enough these days that it won't be intolerable.

I'll be rocking my Butchered at Birth shirt, stomping in the pit. I forget who on here was from the area. That person should drive them up.

I'd get excited about getting dressed up if I had a badass suit. I can do blazer/nice pants/vest/shirt/tie/fancy shoes but I feel like I'm half-assing it and I'd rather just wear something comfy.

:( as I'm sitting here in nice jeans/vest/shirt/tie/fancy shoes and was proud of myself. Badass suits are badass in professional settings, not so much, during weekend settings of relaxation. Hmmm I generally feel like fancy clothes are comfy.

I have a skinny torso, thick neck so can't really button the top button anyways, hence, leaving the single button undone makes them not such a big deal. Arms are always kinda tight, though, having to buy size small so I don't have the flying squirrel flaps underneath my arms.

Seeing Iron Maiden in June when they come to Boston. They are playing songs from the Seventh Son album to mirror the Maiden England DVD that they are re-releasing so I am very very excited.

I've got a lot coming up but none of it concrete.

I'm going to try and get down to Ohio to see Gwar with Municipal Waste and Ghoul, because of dat lineup.

Also Clutch is going on tour with Hell Yeah (weak), but both of their Michigan dates are CLUTCH ONLY. Also I love that where many bands seem to pass over Michigan entirely, which I can't blame them for too much seeing as its probably a lot easier to go straight from Ohio to Chicago, Clutch have decided to play multiple shows in my state.

I'm planning on going to Bone Thugs in a couple of days, and I might try going to Paganfest and/or Steel Panther mainly just to see live music and be drunk.

And I'm going to try and go to MDF. Thursday is sold out, but if I can get in on that Nasum and EW action, I will be most pleased.
