Insomnium has been on my playlist since their first album. Phenomenal band, enough said.

Never listened to them before but someone recommended me Song of the Blackest Bird so I checked it out on youtube and loved it.

Reminds me of a romantic comedy.... Starts out awesome and then the clean vocals come in to appeal to the broader audience and kill everything I appreciated beforehand........

Really? The clean vox are used in like 3 songs, and sparingly in those. What is it that's so bad about them?

I think the clean vocals on this album are much better done than the last one. Of course, they're not anything groundbreaking, however, does the job well and fits in with the music.

This band is the new Dark Tranquility. You know what to expect with them and they always deliver.

I don't really know why they bother me...It might just be something ingrained into my brain telling me that it doesn't sound right when bands mix clean vocals in with screams, growls, etc......... A lot of shit bands have done this and some very good bands have done this, but it just seems like a gimmick to me, trying to appeal to the mass...
I do however like some metal bands that just use clean vocals though like maiden, danzig, iced earth, motorhead, etc.......

Always solid melodic death metal... No surprises here.

But yes. Enough with the fucking switching growl/clean or clean vox chorus in melodeath already. It's so ridiculously overdone. I love melodeath to pieces but really the clean shit that's on every album anymore kills it for me. I'm alright with like In Flames doing it or when Soilwork did it back on APP/NBC but you know, it's had its time.

Another solid release. Was sort of disappointed that "Weather the Storm" was not include on the album, but still happy with the album as a whole. As for the clean vocals they don't bother me at all. In fact I think Through the woods is a fantastic track and that the clean vocals are tastefully done and are not overused on album.
