Wow, this is pretty different to any other Mayhem I've heard. It's actually good.

I just plain don't get this album. Maybe it will click if I'm in the right mood.

This album is great. Personally it gets a 95% from me. I'm glad everyone else seems to recognize how good this is because a lot of people don't get into it.

I saw these guys in Albuquerque, NM last month, and the songs they played off of Ordo were just plain sick live. Attila is one hell of a vocalist, in between songs he would just gurgle weird noises into the microphone, and he would hit the limits of the PA. What an awesomely strange fellow.

Listened to it once or twice when I first bought back when it was released. Now that I'm much more in the mood for savage, devoid of any melody, strange and truly morbid BM, I must say this album is in one word: Groundbreaking. From the ever-wicked-vocals, to those riffs! And of course, the ever perfect drumming of the mighty "Hellhammer" is phenomenal as always. It truly deserves every ounce of the score given to it.

:dio:

EDIT: Now that I actually read the review, I must say that Zad like many of the other people in the world of Metal music have been moved by this album in one way or another in different perceptions of this reality that is Mayhem. I personally, am so energized by this album, so moved, and so stunned by utter power, energy, and malevolent creation, the purity, the pure formless and structureless energy of the utmost primitive nature of this existential essence of the depth of the human mind.

Indeed, this is a stunning album, music as an experience, as a gateway to strange worlds. It blew my mind then and still does... black metal at its most spinechilling.

this album is really good when you're drunk.

deathcrush owns, wolfs lair abyss owns, grand declaration of war owns, chimera owns and ordo ad chao is really good while drunk or stoned or if you're a bizarre person probably.

only bad album they ever did was dmds and that's because atillas demon possessed vocals sucked on it.

I have to fundamentally disagree with you there. His vocals are absolutely great. One of the most unique and most demonic vocals ever performed.

I don't know. Sometimes I listen to it and I just don't like them, while other times they are bizarre and unique. I just don't listen to dmds much though.

Agree with that tbh.

I see. Well, it all goes back to personal preference and the feelings created inside in experiencing music. I have always found DMDS a timeless classic, and Mayhem an outstanding band; while others dismiss Mayhem altogether as overrated in general!
