This is a strictly stereo album.

I don't even own a stereo! All I have is a personal player. I don't think the album is as raw as say, Wrath Of The Tyrant era Emperor though.

What are you on about? WOTT is Linkin Park production compared to Nattens Madrigal.

I still say WOTT has worse sound quality, even if it is less abrasive.

I listened to a song from this on MySpace through my computer on iPod headphones. My head almost ruptured but it was awesome.

i don't see how this album has bad production, sure it's harsh and abrasive as fuck but I think that's exactly how the band wanted it to be.

Well, I'd say this is as perfect as straight up, pure black metal with no synths or acoustic interludes (well, one) gets.

I would love to listen to this album but with headphones it's unbearable at anything but the lowest volumes. I don't own speakers.

I also have trouble listening to this on headphones - it's a little painful unless I'm in the right mood. I can't imagine what it'd be like with earbuds...

I have in-ear headphones from Sennheiser. I did listen to the first song and it was amazing, though.

Well, Sennheiser tends to make great headphones so it's not surprising that Nattens Madrigal sounded good even with earbuds from them. I was picturing something more along the lines of 5 dollar earbuds you buy in Walmart or something.

It still feels like an icicle being stabbed into your frontal lobe.

Just heard this now, amazing album, not to mention raw as fuck. I'll check out the older albums ASAP cause I love the BM/folk style in the vein of old Satyricon.

I tried listening to his album with headphones on, but it's so raw and harsh that it hurt my ears.

This album is awe-inspiring beyond belief. I was just listening to it a couple of weeks ago with high quality headphones. An absolutely fantastic experience!

Ulver's newer stuff is dogshit. But the first three albums are awe inspiring. Bergtatt and to a lesser extent this album are incredible.

Ulver's Avant-Garde/Electronic period is without a doubt as brilliant as their BM-era, period. I won't say you are completely closed-minded but saying Ulver's new era is "shit" is just simply absurd.

The new stuff is without a doubt very well done music, but I prefer their Black Metal days.

Ulver is just a remarkable and extraordinary band, no matter how one perceives them.
