Seriously though looking forward to what this sounds like. Frozen Tears was a good album wondering if they continued the progression here.

I don't think anyone will declare this better than Frozen Tears, but there is a bit of progression in their sound. It's an interesting album for sure.

Unfortunately, they have not progressed in the riff or melody department, for me this is a step down. And really, the 19 minute final song is like the sonic equivalent of a Michael Bay film .. all bombastic choruses, stern voiceovers, tumultuous sound effects, essentially every Rhapsody trick in the book was pulled out to make something "epic".

I knew I'd see a certain reader give this album a '0', I was not disappointed.

The General's summation of the final epic is enough to keep me away though.

Good album but I haven't been drawn back to this one anywhere as much as some of their others. One of the best tracks they have released is the horror movie soundtrack inspired "Queen Of The Dark Horizons" I want to hear more like that.

The epic number aside, I was perhaps a bit too hard on this one, some really good songs on here. Upped my score a bit.

Still shovelling this crap out I see. Rhapsody was fun in a really sort of they're so ridiculous yet enjoyable sort of way on their first few albums but their sound is beyond stale and they don't ever try to do anything new.

I tried listening to this again, ten years after I got to know the different subgenres of metal and learned to disregard some.

Nope, still sounds like German schlager music with distorted guitars.

Edit: also, in their 19 minute epic, is that the sound of Saruman beating off at 10:17?

I think this is their version of manowar's Triumph of Steel .. decent disc nearly ruined by a pretentious epic. Like that album, I will probably just remove the epic from my library.

lol at Saruman jerking off.

Still haven't gotten around to this one. I heard a couple of songs and I was actually kinda underwhelmed.

Fabio is incredible. I wanna hear this eventually, but come on, He is so much better when he is hanging around Olaf Thorsen than this band. His singing is better with Rhapsody/F, but I think that's because Olaf isn't going to bitch about the smoking seeing how much Olaf hates hypocrisy. His voice sounds like they don't have much tolerance for his habits when he's in Rhapsody/F IMO (this is all pure speculation) but TBH he sounds somewhat "stressed" in some way. I am talking out of my ass, but boredom breeds wild Italian Progressive Power Metal conspiracy theories. Personally I hope Fabio stays busy either way. If you knew what goes into his vocal production (the way he makes his voice) you would fashion a crown for him made of the purest gold and seat him on his well earned throne.

The review also mentions Luca, I don't think he's in the band. I think he is in his own version of Rhapsody with his name attached. Who's the guitarist on this album? The guy that was edged out of Labyrinth? or someone else?

This is the last album they did before splitting up, so Luca is on it.
