Switzerland beats Germany 5-3. Half the team were subs but still, what the hell

Germany remains my pick for the Euro.

Dortmund, who've been better than Bayern this season, filled in for the missing Bayern defence. This doesn't mean Germany is bad, just that Switzerland is a really good team who should be in the Euro instead of teams like fucking Greece.

EDIT: The Derdiyok/Barnetta combo is fucking lethal.

Watching Scotland/USA now. Kenny Miller is a cheeky wee shite. If we get a corner though, youse are hosed, Mulgrew is accurate as fuck. Usually.

Balotelli in today's France Football:

"Yes, I think I am a genius. [...] When someone calls me stupid, I laugh at his face. I think I'm cleverer than the average. This is because so few people are as talented as I am, that almost nobody can criticize me. But I swear I'm not interested in demonstrating it."

Balotelli is basically Adveser with a mohawk. You were right Karma, btw.

inspired by Fridge's so-called achievements i installed the classic Champ Man 2001/2002 again. first season with Inter Milan i only won the cup and took 3rd place, took me a while to figure out a tactic that could stop Lazio and Roma.

second season:
cup
supercup
league
champions league
european supercup

BOOYAKASHA

going into my 3rd season the team is obscenely good. managed to sign Batistuta on a free transfer, and paid a fortune for Mendieta and Davids who are excellent and are off to a good start.

Image
against tougher opponents (Lazio, Roma and a couple of others) i play 4 defenders and 2 defensive midfielders with a lone striker, but with mentality still on "offensive".
sitting in reserve i have Matterazzi, Jens Jeremies and Olivier Dacourt!

The Euro championship is actually receiving a lot of attention here in the USA. Not for the sporting event, of course, but for the wild backwoods locale. I'm rather fascinated how the tournament will play out, especially in the Ukraine.

Azrael, switch to 4 defenders, 2 midfielders and 1 defensive midfielder with the 3 strikers as it is. You will destroy everything.

Nah, 4 Ds was a total waste in 01/02. As I said in a previous post, with 2 Ds I'd win everything by a 4-goal margin in that game. At least with a big enough club (even though I did it with AJ Auxerre and Mexès + Boumsong).

It would depend how far you're pushing your defense up, no? I mean, if you've got two centre backs and they're pushing up along with your midfield, you'd be incredibly vulnerable to long balls and breaking the offside trap. I'd recommend 4 Ds, but get W/D/M/AMs for the left and right spots. Timothy Chandler and Reto Ziegler are bossing everything up and down the pitch for me. Sometimes I stick Shaqiri (a very fast, very accurate AM) in instead of Ziegler. He doesn't tackle as well, but his long balls are deadly accurate. He gave Derdiyok some crucial assists in my recent FIFA Club World Cup final against Sao Paolo.

erm, 2001/2002 isn't that complex lol.

my usual tactic is 4 defenders and 1 defensive midfielder, the one i posted is my "aggressive" tactic. my pussy tactic (actually called "pussy") is 4D, 2 defensive midfielders and a single striker.

this season is going terribly. going to lose the serie A to fucking Roma, have a crappy 1-0 lead to Lazio in the cup final, and was eliminated by Man United from the champions league. so much money spent. god damn it. Mendieta isn't being productive at all... i don't know what i'm doing wrong. in past games he made tons of assists and goals for me and always averaged 8 in his displays. on the other hand, Davids is an absolute beast.

btw, what does "acção livre" (which i imagine is "free action" or something in the english version) do? when should i have it on?

I've been doing stupidly well to the point where I really shouldn't be, even with edited finances. Chandler, Djourou, Mulgrew, Ziegler, Inler, Ramsey, De Guzman, Rossi, Balotelli and Oxlade-Chamberlain should NOT be able to cruise past Juventus or Barcelona 3-1. Yes, these things happened. 4-1-2-3, bitches.

EDIT: Oh and a few matches back I broke an SPL record by beating newly promoted Raith Rovers 13-0. Derdiyok scored 7 goals, all from the same movement. Welcome to the premier league, assholes.

Over the last two seasons I've sunk about a total of 15-20 million pounds into my U19s, because I believe in investing for the future. They've been kicking all kinds of ass in the U19s group, and for a laugh, I decided to stick them in the big boy league against Kilmarnock. They've got two senior strikers to help them along (who were also bitching about not getting first team football, so yeah) but by half-time my 17 year old Spanish superstar had provided three assists for us to get 3-1 up.

Ah, Killie just scored a fluke header with one of my old players. Guess the defense is weakest among the young un's. No bother, we just hammered in another one. 4-2.

took revenge on season 4, again taking the cup, league and champions league. was going to sell off a poorly performing Mendieta, but cancelled the transfer at the last minute and from then on he changed completely and helped us just stomp all over everyone. Georgatos made 25 assists, Vieri and Ronaldinho both got over 30 goals, Pablo Aimar (one of my favourite players IRL) was also incredible. Davids was a rock in defensive midfield, and the Champ Man legends Aghahowa, Nikiforenko and Kerr were all there when i beat Roma on the CL final!

i'll probably restart and try my hand with Barcelona or Real next.

it's much more challenging because of the restrictions on non-EU players, which are not an issue in the Eridivisie and Serie A.

and now, some actual football discussion...
Portugal lost at home (in front of a Estádio da Luz filled to capacity) to Turkey, 3-1. didn't see it, but my friends said the disolay was crap, with an extremely shaky defence and Hugo Almeida missing chance after chance. Hugo Almeida and Hélder Postiga disgust me, they have ZERO merit to be in this team. they have mediocre scoring records for club and country and are only there because the coach is too much of a dick to call up Nuno Gomes and João Tomás, who even well into their thirties are better strikers than those two talentless jackasses will ever be. Benfica's talented youngster Nélson Oliveira was also called up but he probably won't get a decent chance until those two retire.

i used to complain a lot about Pauleta, Portugal's all-time top scorer, because he only ever scored in friendlies and/or against shitty teams like Azerbaijan and Liechtenstein. i now humbly concede that at least he scored against someone.

check out this unbelievable piece of skill from Ronaldo, though:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAkBYm76578

saw the summary of the Netherlands match. my god, we are going to get raped so fucking hard it's not even funny.

Davids used to be my hero when I was younger. Playing football with sunglasses? Awesome.

I managed to sign Xabi Alonso due to the whole "unsettled at the club" thing. Woooh.

It wasn't sunglasses, he has glaucoma. But it was cool indeed, loved him as well. And what a player.

So Bruce, I've started a new FM game with Aberdeen without any of the edits, as you said I should. Things got off quite well- Managed to snap up Derek Riordan and Mustapha Riga on free transfers, beat Chelsea and Bracas 2-0 each in pre-season friendlies, and am currently sitting top of the league after 7 games, with 4 victories, 3 draws, and 15 points. Hearts are 2nd with 14, Celtic third with 13 but a game in hand so they might jump the top if they win their next match. The club is in an unfortunate 15 million pound debt that I have to pay off, leaving me with no transfer budget, so I have to stick to free signings, but the board have granted me a higher wage budget and are upgrading the youth facilities.

Also signed Jonatan Valle, but I let him go on leave when he said he wasn't settling in in Scotland. Who knows when he'll be back.

Woo, Denmark! Go boys!

FM news: Still with my unedited Aberdeen game- got the triple in the first season, 433, and in my second season managed to qualify for the CL knockout stages. Wow.
