Fights on Friday night, picks?

I really don't care who wins, as long as Erik Silva destroys Charlie Brennemen.

The card may lack name power, but any hardcore fan knows this is a huge card. Flyweight title eliminator, and a bunch of young fast rising stars. If you've never seen Erik Silva fight, you're in for a treat.

Also, Martin Kampmann has decided to undergo knee surgery after his win last week over Jake Ellenberger.

And he'll get it! Rory MacDonald vs. BJ Penn at UFC 152 in Toronto. Bam.

"Ares" will destroy "The Prodigy" and I'm gonna watch it all in fabulous HD.

Christ BJ, at least give yourself a chance when picking opponents.

Carlos Condit says that he'd like to fight Martin Kampmann in November if GSP isn't back by then.

Former WEC Light Heavyweight Champion "The All American" Brian Stann has been forced to pull out of his UFC on FOX 4 5 round main event fight with former Bellator Middleweight champion Hector Lombard. No word on who may replace Stann or if Lombard will even stay on the card.

I say, put Alan Belcher in there. That would be a good fight.

Michael Bisping has been forced to withdraw from his fight with Tim Boetsch, so now Hector Lombard will fight Boetsch at UFC 149. Meaning that UFC on FOX 4 has a new headliner in Mauricio "Shogun" Rua vs. Brandon "The Truth" Vera.

It's kinda getting ridiculous that all the "bigger" name fights are losing guys due to injury. But that's what happens when you train hard every day against tough guys, you get hurt. It is good to see some new and young get there chances because of these holes, but Vera vs. Shogun? Really?

It continues...

Jose Aldo injured, out of his UFC 149 title fight main event against Erik Koch. Koch will not fight a different opponent, instead Urijah Faber vs. Renan Barao for the Interim Bantamweight title will be the main event.

And the injuries continue.

Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Noguiera has been forced out of his UFC 149 fight with Cheick Kongo because his broken arm is still messed up. He will be replaced by fromer Strikeforce top heavyweight Shawn Jordan.

It's a pretty weak card on "name power", but Wandy-Rich 2 will be good and so will Mike Russow (who's undefeated) vs. Febricio Werdum (who looked awesome last time out destroying Big Country Nelson). As for the rest of the card, well if you didn't follow TUF: Brazil, you're fucked.

So we got fights on both Friday and Saturday night. Picks?

I'll do mine a little later in the week. But my early main-event picks are Gray Maynard and Rich Franklin.

Another day, another injury.

Former Light Heavyweight Luiz Cane was expected to make his middleweight debut against former Middlweight #1 contender Yushin "Thunder" Okami. Okami, who is coming off a loss to Tim "The Barbarian" Boetsch, will now be taking on Rousimor "Toquinho" Palhares. Palhares is coming off a rough loss at the hands of Alan "The Talent" Belcher.
