Ok. Alright.

You know what? I would have preferred losing 6-0 and see actual *FOOTBALL* than having to endure THIS. France is out, good riddance. These guys are not worth a dime.

And Spain sucks. Problem is, they don't need to be good to win.

It was a boring match, I concur.

It was far beyond boring. At least I slept magnificently last night... Nasri insulted a journalist (again) after the match, it's time this guy was banned for life from the French squad. He isn't even a good player anyway.

if he didn't act like such a douche, i wouldn't having him on my team... he is quite good.

anyway, on Spain x France:
i think Spain played very well. their dominance and possession was unquestionable. with Spain, i think you either score first or you lose. when they score they shift gears and focus on possession (keeping the ball from you), to the point that you can only sneak an attack in occasionally, and don't aggressively charge the opposing goal because a missed shot is giving the ball to the other team. very few teams are effective enough to take the few chances they create.

what really got to me was how Spain recovered balls - when most teams make interceptions or tackles, the ball is loose and they hope it lands on a friendly player. the Spanish players intercepted with a pass in mind. that, to me, is extremely impressive. even interceptions with the heel and the knee and diving headers, they all went straight back to their teammates.

EDIT:

Mario, i hope you can entertain us for many years to come.

On a 0-5 scale, Spain was at 1.5 yesterday. 2.5 sometimes. But it was more than enough to kick us out, since our dudes didn't even want to play. Benzema even said after he was "glad to be on holidays".

I'm not supporting this squad anymore, at least until some drastic changes are made. It's been 6 long years of humiliation, disgrace and suffering now, enough is enough.

I hate watching Spain play. Essentially 9 central midfielders, a keeper, and a finisher. They don't even have David Villa this year to score 5 goals a game, so they're relying on Fabregas and Torres, for fuck's sake. The Germans are going to rip them apart if they even get to the final.

Jérémy Ménez said "Vaffanculo" (go fuck yourself) to the Italian referee. Not in french no, no... in italian, to be sure the ref understands. And we have to endure this kind of crap since 2006. Insults (of all kind), disrespect of the coach (!!!), the fans, the journalists, the ref, the other players... and now add the 2010 strike, the fact that some players which have french for 1st language can't even speak it half-properly (Ribéry, M'vila), the personal "issues" (fucking underaged hookers, being arrested by the police for violent behaviour, being drunk 18 hours before a match...)

These guys can win the World Cup in 2014 if they like (they won't even qualify, they're in Spain group for the qualifiers), I don't give a shit anymore. They're not all bad though. Lloris, Debuchy, Réveillère, Kocielny, Giroud, Alou Diarra, Clichy and some others are good folks.

After the Sweden match, Ben Arfa insulted coach Laurent Blanc (World Cup and Euro winner, multiple national championship and cup winner, etc.) because he "dared" criticize him. Hatem "who?" Ben Arfa. Now that I think of it, his first name is adequate. I hatem.

Ok, I'm going to stop now on this subject. :) Tonight is England vs. Italy, I hope this will be good times. For a change.

All I know is, we might as well give up now - if that was a poor performance from Spain, then we won't stand a chance. Doubt we'll beat Italy, tbh.

Fridge, you're underrating Spain.

they are not as strong as in 2008/2010, but as i said, ANY team that fails to score first against them is fucked. Germany are the best team to take them out, though, no question there.

Portugal has to hope Ronaldo manages to pull a rabbit out of his seemingly bottomless hat (i'm thinking one of his trademark "tomahawk" shots). we need another night like a few months ago when we beat them 4-0. if you take it to them, score first and don't stop pushing them, you can beat them. don't let them get comfortable in possession.

After seeing Germany cut through the Greek Wall as if it were whipped cream I have no doubt in my mind that they will win the Euros, barring anything insane or freakish happening.

Say what you will about Balotelli (and you know I love bashing the man), but at least he sings the fucking anthem.

We've seen more action the first 5 minutes today than yesterday's whole match.

+1.

Both Italy and England have missed many a great opportunities. Italy hasn't had the most excellent of defending considering they are famous for their spectacular defending. England has dropped in quality immensely in the past few years as a team. I still haven't seen any games with Spain playing but I know their a phenomenal team. It's 92 minutes into the game right now. I hope it goes into penalties because the Italians yet again have shown themselves very well when it comes to penalty taking. It'll be a long half an hour before penalty shootout (if it goes there).

Sorry Zad, but England should really avoid penalty shootouts at all cost... Deserved win for Italy, despite a good English display.

And, of course, awesome match.

Good English display? England played defensive all the match. When Italia is more offensive than you, something is wrong.

I'm glad Italia is on the semis.

Basically yes, but they did it beautifully, and managed to have a few scoring chances. They were at the best of their abilities, they couldn't have played any better than this with all the injured players and everything. So kudos to England, and congrats Italy. The semi-finals are going to be the ultimate shiznet. Honestly, any of the 4 remaining squads can win this. Portugal will need awesome Ronaldos and Nanis, but it's doable. The other three are monsters.
