Crazy. I gotta think, unless the bonuses and real money for that first year is too much for Nashville, they're gonna match. They almost have to, four late first round picks isn't enough of a return for a player of Weber's calibre.

And they've lost Ryan Suter already.

Well he may eventually want to leave, but Winnipeg will do all they can to keep him, and everybody else I mentioned, around for the long haul.

And if the Flyers get Weber, they win the cup next year.

Can you imagine if they get Weber and Pronger somehow gets healthy? They'd probably need to move some salary but god damn that's scary.

Not to mention Timonen and Coburn and Meszaros.

All those veterans around helping Schenn round out his game. Damn. I hope Van Riemsdyk works in Toronto.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded Rick Nash, prospect d-man, and a 3rd round pick to the New York Rangers for Artim Anisimov, Brandon Dubinsky, Tim Erixon, and a 1st.

Winnipeg Jets d-man Dustin Byfuglien has been charged with boating under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Must pay a $1000 fine and do 30 days of "workhouse" community service.

Nashville re-signs Sergei Kostitsyn.

Toronto re-signed Nik Kulemin.

Edmonton signs 1st overall pick Nail Yakupov to a 3 year entry level contract.

And I'm sure there's more I missed.

Wow, Columbus didn't even get one good player for Rick Nash. Robbery.

Dubinsky's a good player.

So is Anisimov and Erixon.

You guys are delusional.

I'm not as sold on the other two, but Dubinsky has shown he can be an effective player. On most teams he would be a solid second line centre.

Regardless, Columbus was never going to win this trade.

They are all young, and getting better. They grew up on a tough as nails New York Rangers team. Anisimov has mad skills, just stuck behind Stepan and Richards. Dubinsky can play wing or center. Erixon will be a great puck moving d-man. Not everybody can be Drew Doughty or Dustin Brown, but they are far from trash. And a 1st round pick, giving Columbus 3 for next years draft.

Nash is over paid and overrated. Would I have taken him in TO? In a heartbeat, but he's only hit 40 goals once and is not getting any younger.

Oh, and the Preds have matched the Flyers offer sheet. Weber is staying in the west coast. Thank the gods, old and new.

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed Alex Semin to a 1 year 7 million $ contract.

I don't give a shit if they finish 15th again, the blood runs blue under my skin. Obviously I want my team to win, but thats just it, they're my team. Win or lose, they're mine.

Yeah, that's what being a fan is. Anything less is poser bullshit.

My footy team (aussie rules football) has been pretty shit for the last decade, but my dedication has never faltered.

Anyway, not that I get to watch that much hockey down here (ESPN shows one or two games a week, I think) but for what it's worth, win or lose the Leafs are my hockey team now too.
