this is one of the least competitive seasons in recent years though, PSG, if they can live up to the names in their squad, are contenders for a quarter-finals spot.

I LOVE, I mean I genuinely, frantically LOVE the French fucking moronic sports press headlines tonight:

- A pretty clement draw for Frenchies
- Lucky PSG
- Why Lille definitely can do it
- Hard but not impossible for Montpellier

Fucking blind sighted utter arrogance. WE FUCKING SUCK. Period. We'd be lucky if France has one club alive after the group stages.
For fuck's sake, wake up people. Portugal had its THREE TEAMS in Pots 1 and 2. We had our three in Pots 3 and 4! Fucking Ukraine had both its clubs in Pot 2!

/tantrum

edit: ASSHOLES.

Lille can do it? with Bayern and Valencia in the group? It's easier for Montpellier than for Lille, and it's very diffcult for Montpellier.
PSG has options in their group, so it's lucky. In other groups PSG options would be zero.
I agree with you. Assholes!

in such hard times, talk is one thing that is still cheap.

btw Carles what do you think about the Benfica match? both teams have improved since our last encounter in 2005/2006... Benfica is quite good, i'd say on a good day we could face up to Bilbao, Atl. Madrid or Valencia, while Barcelona simply have one of the greatest sides ever put together. one thing going for us is that Barça are playing Real, Sevilla and Benfica within one week, so that might work in our favour.

I think Barça is one step ahead of Benfica, but Benfica is three steps ahead of Spartak and Celtic. if I have to bet, 1-1 or 1-2.

i'd put it the other way around. right now Real and Barça are three steps ahead of any other club.

Olympique Lyonnais just sold GK Hugo Lloris to Tottenham. The guy was the one of the two who were keeping this club afloat (the other being Lissandro Lopez). I don't give a damn about Lyon, but seeing a good GK like Lloris departing for a shitty club like Tottenham is heartbreaking. Although I guess the Spurs are just a springboard for Hugo, he could very well end up United's keeper in the future.

Barca - Celtic is going to be awesome. Wonder how Barcelona cope on a rainy night in Glasgow? Is it going to be as bad as Stoke?

united want to believe that they have in De Gea a keeper for the long run.

Spurs are not shitty i think. consider how ridiculously hard it is to be a contender in the Premier League, and that Spurs are coming from outside the United/Chelsea/City/Arsenal/Liverpool group. i see them as England's Braga. they are certainly strong enough to finish ahead of the latter two rather poorly run clubs.

Let me rephrase: I'm not saying Tottenham has a shit squad, they're totally legit on the contrary. It's just the club. He could have departed for a sexier destination. But the market is impossible right now, and besides Lyon's chairman Jean-Michel Aulas wanted him to go (Lyon have finances issues, hence the sale).

So I guess this is just normal. Tottenham was the only club with a suitable reputation that had money available for a GK, Lyon wanted to sell a highly paid player. Just business.

As for De Gea, yeah. But somehow I doubt he'll be in United for too long.

De Gea was off to a rocky start, true...

i see what you mean about Spurs and i agree. Keepers are always a hard sell.

Lyon went from winning 7 consecutive Ligue 1 titles to not even making it into the Champions League. quel dommage.

Are you seriously ripping on De Gea? Yeah okay the goal against Fulham was crappy work, but FFS, did you watch him the last 3/4's last season? Only reason we fought for the title all the way, cause the rest of the team flat-out sucked. Same against Everton. Could have lost by way more.

From the Guardian: "One option would be for Chelsea manager John Terry to sign Falcao, if he can get near enough to him."

He's got something like a 50M release clause, want to bet Abramovic buys him?

50M? That's nothing. PSG should have signed him instead of Ibra.

And yeah, fuck Chelsea, finally an ounce of justice in this sport.
