All I did was turn down his idea. He took it the wrong way, now he's gone. And yet we still have a full pool.

WTF just happened?

I've never done Roto before but H2H is what made me a fantasy nut in the first place. I used to do basic points leagues years ago but I never kept up with my roster. As EBD mentioned, H2H is really fun for smack talk and rivalries so that's probably why I became obsessed: To prove my superiority over others.

I will agree that at times it can be a crapshoot but I think for the most part the managers that take the time to monitor their teams regularly get rewarded accordingly. Yeah injuries happen but a good manager would react to things like that and make adjustments to keep their team competitive.

Still no sign there will be a season though. 12 days left till the end of current CBA. Smells like poop. I want my sophomore year.

It's not knowing that gets to me. If I knew they'd be no season or it wouldn't start until January or whatever, I could deal with it and prepare myself to follow a team in the Swedish hockey league. Now I feel kind of stuck in the middle.

It also makes it hard for me to get into this fantasy hockey draft since I'm unable to feel excitement for an upcoming season that might not even start.

First, let me be clear, sometimes you are narrow-minded and also at times prone to exaggeration (my own flaws, of course, are legion). What follows is my attempt to get through to you on that narrow-mindedness aspect, and hopefully not get a Ken type response.

Remember this post from a few weeks ago in the iphone thread?



I saw you edit that last quote, originally you said something defensive along the lines of "so what, I like my phone". I saw the change, realized I had go too far by comparing your Iphone thing to religion, and then changed the tact of the thread by making fun of my old age and the thread went on to a happy, trollish ending.

In this hockey thread I made a suggestion, which I prefaced with "I ask for this every year" so I wasn't expecting a change of heart or anything. I was fine with you outright declining as the commissioner, Chaos agreed with you, and you'll note I was ready to drop it.




The problem, Wally, is that you can be a blockhead. Had you acknowledged that you were in the position of power here, you could have just shut down my idea, but you didn't. You had to "win".

Some previous examples about narrow-mindedness:
You've claimed, regardless of context: "If you didn't vote for Mental Vortex, you are not a fan of metal music." (From the "My Arms Your Hearse vs Mental Vortex" in Lich Lords) You also recently claimed in the pot thread that "doom metal is completely about pot", then backed up when called on it and said "all the doom I listen to is about pot."

Now back to the argument, you had a point about hockey not being baseball, but you weren't the type of person to understand where I am coming from with the baseball allusion (you mentioned sports generally afterall before, so I brought up sports), and rather than acknowledging that difference as just a matter of perspective, you still had to win the argument.

I don't take kindly to insults, and generally overreact, so obviously I am at fault here too. It was dumb of me to even mention another scoring system when everyone seemed happy with it last year. But I do try to understand other people's perspectives, and that is why I completely changed course in the Iphone thread, or why I try to listen to things from Vektor to Ancestor to Krallice.

So all I am saying is, the next time someone disagrees with you, just try understanding where they are coming from for a change. That is all.

My comments about phones, music, sports, whatever is obviously my opinion and I don't care what you think. But at the end of the day, I'm usually joking. My sense of humor may be lost or misunderstood over the Internet, but Jesus, take a chill pill. I know I'm a "blockhead" who needs to "win" or "get the last say" but you are such an easy target that I usually go after you. I'm sorry.

I'd also like to apologize to everybody for the delay. Combination or personal issues, work, etc.. I will get to it this afternoon. If I cant get out of work tonight then I'll do it when I get home(around 10 pm my time) or sometime tomorrow.

Yeah, I understand why you and Steve do what you do, so fucking easy, and you guys are good at it.

So there's gonna be no season. I'm not going to bother, obviously, setting up our league. If somebody else wants to then all the power to you. I'll set it up if we get a shortened season. Sorry for my absence the last week.
