Guardian says 60M, still affordable for the big oil clubs. Man City won't buy him because it's too much to spend for the relatively small improvement he'd be over Higuain, and PSG probably have too small a reputation for someone like Falcao. Apparently, back in 2008, he was in talks with Arsenal. Now that would have been something.

Too small a reputation my ass, we're giving Ibra 14M euros a year. Falcao would have crawled all the way to Paris for that kind of money.

Not sure what you're talking about. Higuain's still a Real Madrid player last time I checked. And if PSG can convince global stars like Ibra and Thiago Silva to come, surely Falcao wouldn't be too high profile to sign either.

Sorry, not Higuain. The other Argentinian, Aguero. Ibra and Thiago want to win in Europe. Falcao's already done so, and if he's already a star in Spain he won't want to go to France when he's killing in La Liga and could potentially go play in the EPL or the Bundesliga instead.

Falcao was already unstoppable in 2010/2011, and everyone was fucking stupid to miss out on a relative bargain (his buyout clause, which Atletico cleared, was €30M) compared to the fortunes paid before for Carroll, Torres and Berbatov, and not that much more expensive than the likes of Darren Bent.

he was criticised in Portugal for opting to join a club that wasn't even going to play the CL, but he went on, helped drag them to the Europa League victory and he's the toast of the town again.

doubt he'll wait much longer to seriously fight for the CL. just keep your fingers crossed so he doesn't join Real or Barça, football doesn't need that much firepower concentrated in a single team.

Yet, he will. He's better than a David Villa in shape, and much better than Higuain and much, much better than fucking Benzema.

i mean i don't see him joining a PSG or whatever and waiting 3-4 years for his first real shot at a CL conquest.

barça, real, man city, don't see anyone else worthy of his signature at this point.

Yeah, but there's a big difference in prestige between winning the Europa Leauge, like Falcao's already done, and coming to a club with ambitions to win the CL. EL is pretty much the champions leauges loser's longue I'd reckon.

Sure, the french leauge might not be the most compelling choice, but I'd say the money on offer makes up for that. Footballer's these days often goes for the highest salary.
So I'd put PSG as one of five clubs, together with Barcelona, ManC, Chelsea and Bayern Münich as most likely to sign him up.

Manchester City have proven before that they're not too concerned about having a shitload of expensive strikers, and Mancini's already complained this summer about the lack of quality signings.
If Torres has another lackluster season Chelsea is probable. Barcelona would probably think twice before paying that kind of money since their Ibraproject kind of failed, and they already have a strong attacking line.
Bayern Münich is probably the only german club that would be tempting, other german clubs have neither the ambitions or the money to be a realistic option.
Come to think of it, PSG along with Chelsea is probably the club that'd need him the most, and therefore the most likely to splash out the money required. You're right about france being less attractive for a big player than the EPL though.

Either way he'll surely have to leave Atletico at some point, he'll win neither the leauge nor the CL if he stays.

Please some billionaire buy Aberdeen and sign him *_*

Hm, Falcao at Bayern would be awesome- Shaqiri and Müller playing him on would be fantastic to watch.

on Falcão at Barça, bear in mind that he has none of Ibra's ego issues.

Man City have 99% closed a deal for Benfica's Javi García. i won't get into detail, but to me this is more evidence that the club's management doesn't give a fuck about sporting success or even financial success, since he was inexplicably sold for less than his €30M buyout clause. this is like the 4th time Benfica does this, and these are the fucking man city arabs who overpay for everyone if you just ask nicely.

uma puta de uma vergonha.

Bah, Barca are strong enough as it is, no need to make them ridiculous.

True, but he'd still have to play second fiddle to Messi. Don't know if it'd really be worth paying 60 million euros for someone who'd be a supporting cast, when Villa already seem to be happy in that role. He'd probably be surplus to requirements, what Barca really need IMO is a quality central defender so they won't have to play Mascherano there ever again.

As for Real Madrid, dunno, it's not too common for Atletico players to join their rivals.

(Not related with ongoing discussion but Joey Barton signed to Olympique de Marseille. I'm laughing my ass off right now, you have no idea.)

isn't he kind of a massive twat?

and true. Falcão would cost too much for a supporting role, which is what he'd get at Barça.

in England though i see him playing in a few teams, but Chelsea are simply crap and he deserves better... Man U are in need of renovation (more midfield and defence, but he could be a part of it i guess). it' them or City. Liverpool too if they ever got serious and dropped like €150M in one summer on worthwhile players but i don't see that happening.

I'd say it is related with ongoing discussion. It's a sign. Ligue 1 do attract big players

In other news, AC Milan signed Nigel De Jong, the karate kid. Their midfield really is something special, pretty much zero creativity with a few exceptions but a whole lot of runners and destroyers. I'd really hate being an attacker there, being reliant on the likes of Nocerino, Flamini and Boateng to feed me.

:D

I was going to put ManU as an option as well, but seeing as they recently signed Van Persie, and with Rooney still there, I'd say it's unlikely they'd splash the cash.

Joey Barton is awesome.

Would love to see Falcao at Liverpool, would revitalize their attack and they desperately need it, were nearly embarrassed by Hearts the other day.

he'd never join such a poorly-run club.

in other news: Porto beat Olhanense 3-2 with great goals from Hulk and James Rodriguez.
Hulk almost took the keeper's head off with the sheer violence of his shot - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDRwIfJrHDw
James took advantage of a bad clearance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1k1qltujX0 trust me this kid is amazing.

and Van Persie! holy shit!
