Not official yet, but yeah, negotiations are going nowhere currently.

Disgusting. I'm not blaming the players only, that said.

Oh, I don't have the slightest idea about the actual situation, so don't read too much into my comment - it was purely general.

I WANT TO BELIEVE. The crooks and the cry babies are still discussing, and exchanging proposals. 3 days left.

Also, if there is a season and you guys still want to play, a live draft might be manageable after all, but only if we do it:

- around 6 PM Toronto time, and therefore:
- around 12 AM Oslo/Stockholm/Paris time, and
- sometime in the morning in Australia (6-8 PM, depending on Bar's timezone, I hope you live in the East :P).

And with a two-week notice. It would need to be an off day, of course. Saturday in Canada, Sunday in Australia.

If, of course, there is a bloody season...

I live in Melbourne, so yeah, it's the eastern seaboard.

This will be a little tricky though. 7 PM toronto time is 9 AM here, which is exactly when I get to work.

8 AM is when I have to leave my house, so that's not really viable.

It should be theoretically possible for me to find enough time for it while I'm at work, but there is a chance that I'll get to work and have something important to do that I can't brush off.

So if we want to make sure that doesn't happen, it'll have to be a weekend. I don't mind getting out of bed at 9 AM on a weekend if thats what it comes down to. Otherwise we can just plan it on a weekday and try our luck.

EDIT: ah, i have just noticed you said a weekend. good good.

Well you euros will have some good hockey to watch this year. Ovechkin, Malkin, Gonchar, Spezza, Thorton (Joe), Nash, and Streit have all signed somewhere. Mostly KHL and the Swiss league.

Here the AHL and CHL/OHL will be where I get my hockey fill this year.

The lockout blows but I think it is cool they'll get to see some of the superstars play over there. Crosby's considering it too.

Unfortunately the Swedish Elite League won't allow NHL players to sign lockout contracts here so no stars for us Swedes this time.

What is silly is that the tier 2 league, Allsvenskan, does allow it. Not that they have the economic means to attract NHL players but some go there for other reasons, like Anze Kopitar going to Mora IK to play with his brother Gaspar. Kopitar is gonna destroy that league.

Even more silly is that the worst SEL teams will play the best Allsvenskan teams in a playoff-like system to see which teams get to play in the tier 1 league next season. That's a good system but not if one side is allowed to sign NHL players and the other isn't :)

And today the league announced that the first 2 weeks of the season has been cancelled.

I decided today that I am now a full fledged Toronto Marlies fan. Let's Go Marlies! Made it to the Calder Cup final last year, let's see what they can do this year. Especially cause they'll be getting some help from Jake Gardiner.

I miss hockey so much it hurts.

I seriously don't even know how you guys can handle this shit. If I had to wait 5 months for the footy season here to start, and then it didn't I would be some serious kinda depressed. This life only gives you so much to look forward to!

Well, we've already been through it once recently. Also when you're a Leafs fan there's not normally a whole lot to look forward to anyway. :P

Although no fantasy hockey blows.

How many games til Crosby got hurt do you think? 20? 30? 60? Not at all?

Who would of lead the league in goals? Assists? Points? Wins? Shutouts? What were your playoff teams? Who wins the cup? Rookie of the year?

We can at least pretend.

Crosby: who knows with him. All I want is to see him do 70+ games seasons, we need pure talents like him.

Goals: Steven Stamkos
Assists: Claude Giroux
Points: Claude Giroux or Sydney Crosby (if healthy)
Ws: Pekka Rinne or Niklas Backstrom if he plays sufficiently (Minnesota's new Ds help)
SO: I don't know. Quick is impressive, not sure the Kings will be.

Looks like the owners and the NHLPA are mulling over a new deal that would have the season start on Nov 2nd.

Nobody cares about this? Sounds like pretty good news.

Yup 50-50 split. Should be good enough for everyone.

That's encouraging. I had given up hope. We'll see if it leads somewhere, I don't wanna get my spirits up too high.
