Assholes come in every flavour.

[/wisdom]

Disappointed that this thread always turns into this sort of repetitive argument rather than talking about how cool American political adverts are, but hey.

I've never had a problem with black people but I live in a predominantly white mormon town of Mesa, Arizona.

Last two fights I've been in were with white people.

However the last fight I saw was between a white kid and a black guy at the courts..but that's rare.

Some are funny as hell goat. Last election for some seat on senate or congress idk. A year maybe two ago in some state that will remain unnamed due to my lack of memory.

Let me start over haha. Some lady was running for some office. Turns out she was a Wiccan. Hahaha the ads were hysterical. The other candidate was like so and so lady is witch. Do you want a witch in office. And so on and so forth and shit.

Yeah it was much funnier when I wasn't telling the story. But yeah you right campaign ads in america are funny.

Ohh settle down. I've actually worked and lived in the hood and that's just nonsense. You are being played like a fiddle while the poorest class of people are scapegoated. I don't play along with the divide and conquer strategy to keep our economic caste system in place. Right Wing ideology is one that promotes self reliance but always has a strawman scapegoat to blame for everything.
I agree with the right wing ideology promotes self reliance but always has a straw man scapegoat to blame everything on. Thing. But I have to say the left does the same thing. The last presidential term everything was blamed on bush.

Idk I think bush did a good job considering what happened sept. 11th and all. I don't understand all the bush hate.

Bush may have been a warmongering SOB, but he was better on immigration than Obama and the GOP now are. Also, even with the patriot act, better on civil liberties in some ways.

I think Bush was a well-intentioned idiot whose strings were being pulled by the shady corporate interests in his administration. His tax cuts to the rich are by far the biggest chunk of American money loss, and we can thank the direct representatives of corporations in the white house at the time for that.

That said, neoliberalism is a global cancer that needs to be struck down.

This is true, but that goes for all administrations, for a long time now.
Our middle east policy is based on the petrodollar, it's really not complicated. The war on terra is just a convenient selling point for mass consumption. That and PNAC, as far as the Bush administration goes.
Only difference between parties is which corporations / lobbies are served. The middle-class has been getting the hard screw for a long long time now, meanwhile banks and assorted corpaorations are consistently making record profits.
So much for representational government.

Campaign ads in this country fucking blow. Candidates are used to the fact that the average American is a fucking retard, and could never actually sit down and watch a legitimate debate, and I mean a legitimate debate with hard questions about policy, not softball questions with a biased moderator that interrupts when a candidate deflects and what not. The presidential debates are glorified press conferences where two guys with remarkably similar policy plans, go over glistening generalities and rehash shitty statements that never even occur when they assume office in the case of Barack Obongo.

And in the end, Aipac wins. It's like playing Russian roulette with six bullets in the drum.

here's the thing about democratic process, it works fine if people actually care about politics and want to vote (true democracy) it doesn't work if you force people to vote then don't give them any information about political policy because you don't think the people care (the case in Australia where voting is compulsory and failure to vote results in a two year prison stint) I for one actually care about politics, I vote for whichever political party I feel has better policies for the mid and long term, so what really pisses me off is that people are forced to vote when they clearly don't care, I think voting should be optional ensuring that only people who actually have an interest in politics will actually vote, then we can be presented with the facts and make informed choices instead of just picking a party because the leader of the opposition is a 24 carat cock

Apparently GW Bush's nephew is rumoured to be thinking of running in 2016? He's part Latin, a fiscal conservative... that plus immigration reform and a more socially liberal outlook could lead to a GOP people respect again.

wish my country would bring in a political party who have actually got a clue about managing the economy, GFC aside our current government has taken Australia from (don't quote me on this my recollection of figures isn't great) a 20 billion dollar surplus to 50 billion dollars in deficit with just one three year term in office and added another 10 billion so far in their current term, and all that spending hasn't actually done anything, unemployment in Australia now sits at a national figure of 5% (officially) the highest it has been for thirty years and the number of cuts to our health care sector are simply staggering, with more on the way, our police forces are virtually ineffective due to crippling budget restrictions seeing crime rates in all capital cities skyrocketing and the federal government wants to cut even more funding from these sectors to instigate a national broadband scheme which actually won't have national effects, it's ludicrous, and on top of that the government has introduced a carbon tax (with no fixed limit designed to increase exponentially year on year) and a "super" mining tax (insanely high taxes on mining which is actually our largest source of steady employment and chief source of international envestment in Australia, not to mention our chief area of exportation) their policies simply do not work and do not make sense but thanks to compulsory voting and the stupidity of some Australians even if there is a change in government they will be powerless to change anything for their first term in office because labour (current government) will combine with our largest second-line party to block anything a new government tries to change

This sounds about right. Comparison of FIPA with NAFTA made me sad :-(

@RelentlessOblivion: is there a "no vote" or some such option on the ballot? I feel like getting everyone to fill out a ballot might be a good idea. Just get them out there to at least say they don't care.

just how pissed are you? seriously I don't think I have ever been so drunk I can't string a sentence together (no offence mate) also no idea what happened with my last post seems my computer hates me again

as I was trying to say most people here just pick in the order parties appear on the ballot, except for our last election where people voted for the Greens (a minor party who almost have the numbers to be a major party) which hamstrung the eventual winners of the election Labor because it meant for them to get anything done they had to bend over backwards for the environmental nutcases of the greens who if they had their own way would arrest anyone who used electricity, or a motor vehicle or lived in a house because "it's bad for the environment"
