Hey, RO, I'm curious about your vision impairment - if you don't mind answering, what is your actual ailment? Are you considered legally blind?

I'm just curious because you mentioned you had a guide dog, so I assumed you were pretty close to blind, but now that you're talking about watching fights and whatever it seems like you have better vision than I assumed.

I have a friend who is legally blind, but he can still see a lot better than that title implies. He doesn't need a guide a dog, he get's around just fine. But he's not legally allowed to drive a car. So yeah, just curious.

I don't mind at all mate, my vision imairment is RP (abreviated the full title is over long) it's a degenerative condition that will eventually cause full blindness, at present I have my central vision and about five percent of my preriferal vision left, I could get around without the guide dog but I find it much easier with him, plus dude the dog is a total babe magnet

http://www.retinaaustralia.com.au/eye_anatomy.htm

that website has more info about the condition

Anderson Silva is a pleasure to watch, he's so good he'll embarrass great fighters. He takes a minute or two to figure out the range and moves of his opponents, then simply picks them apart. He's got a couple of bad fights but most of them are just amazing displays of precision and skill.

this was a middle weight title defence at UFC 73 and I think Couture was the commentator who described Silva as a "ballet of violence"

the fight was over about half way through the first round

real let down for me on that card was Ortiz v Evans, should have been a solid fight but it was just dull, neither fighter was able to land any clean hits and it ended up being called a draw by the judges

afterwards watched UFC 42, man talk about a weak card, one fight that could have been good but a fighter went down injured part way through the first round, and a decent welterweight title defence, only just watched it and none of the fighters stuck in my head

You need to get with the times man, half those guys don't fight anymore. And the guys who do now, are much better.

Evans-Ortiz rematched a few years later that Evans dominated.

Cant forget UFC 148 where Silva TKO'd Sonnen. Was beautiful.

I like that you added the Hendo-Shogun war. What a fight.

Hendo-Shogun was brutal.

GSP is not human. No human being should be able to do the things he does. He still won't beat Silva.

He bulked up that's for sure. Condit looked liked a video game character with all that punch-kick-kick-punch business. I don't think he could take Silva, but I also don't remember Silva fighting any great wrestlers like him in recent bouts. Correct me, if I'm wrong.

Chael Sonnen twice? Yushin Okami is not a wrestler, but his Judo is fucking awesome. And not so recently: Nate Marquardt, Dan Henderson, Forrest Griffin, Travis Lutter (a jitsu/wrestler mix). Hell even Bonnars background is in wrestling.

On paper, all those guys should be considered better wrestlers than GSP, and all much bigger too. That's why I think Silva would rape GSP, the size difference would be too much. Silva has fought heavyweights before, where GSP has only ever fought welterweights and lightweights most of his career.

But if anybody is going to prove me wrong, it will be captain canuck, Georges mother fucking RUSH St-Pierre.

So what? They would probably make Silva cut and GSP bulk up, creating a specific weight class in the middle for the bout?

They'd be the same weight on Friday night at the weigh-ins. Then Silva goes to his hotel and bulks up to 200+ lbs just by having dinner and a glass of water. That shit happens, and it happens all the time. That's why you always hear about grueling weight cuts.

I personally think GSP's wrestling is better than all those previously mentioned fighters, maybe with the exception of Chael Sonnen. Also, the larger weight cut will take a bigger toll on the body of Silva, who could potentially wear down later in the fight because of it. And if anyone can make it a tough, grueling fight it's GSP.

Still, I've gotta go with The Spider in this one. Gonna be strange to see one of them lose but it should definitely be one of the biggest events in UFC and MMA history.

As for UFC 154, great fight. Certainly the most entertaining GSP fight in at least five years. Credit to both fighters for showing heart and grit in this one, and being active.

And Jesus Christ, I don't like Johny Hendricks but at some point you just got to respect him for having that kind of power. Well deserving of a title shot.

He put away both Fitch and Kampmann in less than 60 seconds combined! That's fucked.

GSP-Silva would not last long enough for Georges to turn it into a grueling fight. I also said those fighters ON PAPER are SUPPOSE to be better, I didn't say they were, they just come from wrestling backgrounds where St-Pierre's background is garbage pickup. Carlos Condit was connecting on GSP everytime they were on the feet and Condit is far from Silva in terms of striking skills. It would be a 2nd round TKO for The Spider.

I assume Silva has only gotten better since his middle weight title defence at UFC 73? having never seen a GSP fight I can't really make a call here but if he was being hit cleanly by a less then effective striker the way I interpret what's been said Silva will TKO him in the first round without breaking a sweat
