I assume Silva has only gotten better since his middle weight title defence at UFC 73? having never seen a GSP fight I can't really make a call here but if he was being hit cleanly by a less then effective striker the way I interpret what's been said Silva will TKO him in the first round without breaking a sweat

Oh GSP would make him sweat. But Silva would still TKO him. Condit is a muay Thai guy and GSP kicked his ass all 5 rounds (mostly) on Saturday night. Condit is just not a good as Silva, but then again nobody is.

Some highlights from Anderson Silva's career. Judging by the clips you'd think he was fighting amateurs but many of those are former champions and/or top contenders. Stunning.

I'm fucking dying to see Shogun-Gustafsson. Two weeks! Gonna be epic.

My picks:

Henderson-Gustafsson-Macdonald-Swick

Might make some picks for the undercard at a later point.

So Strikeforce: Champions was suppose to feature 3 title fights and is now down to just 1.

Strikeforce is dying a slow and painful death. But I can't wait for the champions and top challengers join the UFC roster. Mousasi, Melendez, Rockhold, Jacare, Feijao, Cormier, Marquardt, St. Prieux, etc.. Not world beaters, but guys like Mousasi and Melendez need to be in the UFC fighting the best.

I'll do my picks next week, but mine aren't too far off of yours.

Henderson (beastly), Gustafsson (Shogun could always KO him though), Penn (I can't go against the guy), Brown (been on a streak but don't know enough about either tbh).

You can't pick against Penn? Have you seen his last 4 fights? Or watched any MacDonald fights? BJ is gonna wish he stayed retired.

But I like the dude so much. I think I did see MacDonald's last fight. It's not gonna be pretty.

A month away from Velasquez and Dos Santos part deux, right?

Yeah, I love Penn but this is just a bad matchup for him. MacDonald has been all but tearing people limb from limb in his last couple of fights. Penn needs to be back at lightweight where he can cause some damage. Welterweights are just too big and physical for him.

I did think Fitch would completely destroy Penn too but they ended up fighting to a draw, so there's hope... It's just that MacDonald's finishing power is infinitely better than Fitch's, so I'm guessing it's gonna be ugly.

I did not realize that they were duking it out at welterweight. For some reason, I just expected it to be lightweight given that he fought Diaz last time, but apparently that was at welterweight too.

Speaking of which, I kinda want to see Diaz get the snot kicked out of him. He is just an ugly motherfucker and I love Henderson.

There's two Diaz brothers. Both use to be welterweight, now Nate is at lightweight fighting for the title and his brother Nick is still at welter and really wants to fight GSP.

Apparently the UFC offered Nick both Demian Maia and Josh Koschekck, they said no to Maia (who will now fight Fitch) so expect to see Nicks return be against the Kos. I don't care who wins, I just hope they beat the shit out of each other. But I'd put my money on Diaz.

I would love to see the trash talk between Koscheck-Diaz. And Diaz is a dick, but he's entertaining in his own way and has exciting fights so I like him. Go watch the Nick Diaz vs Paul Daley fight right now if you haven't seen it.

I thought one of them was on the all lightweight Ultimate Fighter. Eh, it was years ago if so, so I totally could be remembering wrong.

You're correct, he's mostly been a lightweight but spent a year or so at welterweight recently.

I really, really wish the UFC would somehow arrange a fight between Anderson Silva and Anthony Mundine (boxer) I would love to hear the shit talk Mundine would lay down all week then watch Silva knock his fucking lights out permanently, Mundine alone is enough to put me off boxing completely

Road to the Octagon: UFC on FOX 5

I'm pumped. Sunday can't come soon enough (I gotta watch it the day after due to the time delay).

Watch the youtube clip I posted above, you'll get a feel for most guys on that card. But Benson Henderson came over from WEC once the UFC acquired them and really plowed through the lightweight division. He's a beast, super strong and physical for that weight class and can overwhelm just about anyone with his wrestling and pure power.

Nate Diaz has been around for years but has really come into his own since moving down a weight class with spectacular wins over three highly regarded fighters in Takanori Gomi, Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller. He's got great Jiu-Jitsu and boxing, loves to trash talk and get in his opponents' face.

I personally think Henderson will win convincingly but it should be a good fight.
