That assumes Hendo won't be able, right? I thought it was Machida-Henderson? Machida is so technical but I really would want to see Mauler whoop up on him. I have no interest in a Machida-Jones rematch. Dragon got his ass handed to him even if he did make Jones work for it more than the people before him.

Machida is a big, big problem for anyone in that division not named Jon Jones, he's so elusive and unorthodox... He's definitely one of the very best LHW (see my rankings) and in my opinion a big step up in competition from the Shogun we've seen lately so I'd expect it to be a very strategic and calculated fight and would not be surprised to see either man win.

It's gonna be tough for Gustafsson but I think he can do it, either by catching Machida coming in and knocking him out or winning a very close decision.

I know I'm bias because Machida is one of my favourite fighters, but I'd love to see a Jones-Machida rematch. Machida hit him before, he can hit him again. And he's been training his wrestling like a beast so he doesn't have to eat those brutal elbows. He'll still get put on his back, but I am sure now he'll be able to defend better.

All depending on if he gets through either Hendo or Gus.

He did hit him, albeit after Jones already crushed his face. I think Machida is great and rather impressive to watch still, but Jones is just so far ahead of everyone. Mauler would just be a new face that might have a chance.

You think Machida takes Mauler?

Jones crushed Mchidas face after he ate 2 or 3 good punches. Was getting hit harder then he ever had before and took the fight to the ground. Machida stumbled him, if only for a second, he did it.

I think he can beat Gus, as tompa said, he's very elusive and unothodox. He springs in and out like nobody else and can easily land punchs and kicks out of nowhere. Gus is lanky and has great footwork, and his kicks are deadly, but I think Machida could take it. He just needs to defend well, Shogun took a lot of damage late in the fight, but he defended very well early on, and Lyoto wont get hit that much.

No matter who wins, it'll be one hell of a fight.

I've always thought Machida is the guy that, on paper, has the best chance of beating Jones in the LHW division. He was always great against wrestlers and can go in and out of striking range and deliver a barrage of punches and kicks. Still, Jones is so dominant I don't know if all that matters.

Machida is a favorite of mine too, but I do feel like there should be a little bit more time before a rematch between him and Jones. He'll get another shot eventually, even if he loses against Henderson/Gustafsson.

That's a question that will hopefully be answered sometime later this year.

I hope, with every ounce of my being, that it is Silva. But if anybody can beat Silva, it's Jonny Bones.

Have you heard anything about Jones attempting to move up to heavyweight? That would ruin this dream.

Just Jones' initial comment about possibly being at heavyweight by the end of 2013. I think he feels he's got maybe 2-3 title defences left, a super fight, then up to heavyweight he goes. At least that's Danas dream.

would Jones cut it as a heavyweight though?

he'd be better off dropping to middleweight I would think

He's much too big and too dominant at light heavyweight to drop ti middlewight. He's only 24-25 and getting bigger. He puts on more and more muscle for every fight, soon the cut to 205 will be too much work. Alistair Overeem is a prime example. I'm sure steroids helped, but still, he was a lanky light heavy like Jones, bulked up to heavy and is now a monster.

He's too big to be able to cut without losing sufficient muscle mass, I'd think. I'm not super savvy on weight moves in wrestling. If he went to superweight, he would only be bulking up and he is already so fast for how big he is that he would make a lot of those guys look like chumps still.

maybe Silva would move up a weight class with the virtual lack of competition in middleweight, let him destroy GSP then move up to take on Jones

That would be the plan. He's already fought 3 times at light heavyweight. Hell he wanted to fight Brock Lesnar at heavyweight a few years back.

He was an olympic wrestler in his prime. He was the heavyweight champ till Velasquez fucked him up. Eviscerated him on the stand up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FpIKOUK0w8

Edit: Not Olympic, but college.

He came into the UFC on a hype train. Lost his first fight in the bigs but then went on to dominate, for the most part, the heavyweight division. Heath Herring, Frank Mir, Randy Couture, and Shane Carwin(although he should of lost this one). Then he got really sick, had to take a lot of time off and when he came back he wasn't the same. Now he's back in the WWE.
