I never understood the hate directed towards Anderson. Is it because he's just that good? I can't stand the Diaz brothers and love watching them lose, but I respect the hell out of them as fighters.

Basically because he's so good, yes.
But, his antics in the past kind of soured him to me, as well.

yeah, I get why the Diaz Bros. get some hate, but they can fight.

Antics in the Maia and Leites fights? When else?

Maia and Leites tried to take the fight down and couldn't and were too chicken shit to strike with him. So Silva schooled them for 5 rounds. Yes they were boring, but you've got to beat the champ to be the champ.

I can't think of any other antics. When you are 33-4 with 16 straight wins, 11 of which are KOs, you earn the right to be cocky. But at the end of the day, he respects everybody. Even invited Chael Sonnen over for a BBQ after Sonnen made those comments about his wife.

I love watching Silva fight, it's like a ballet of violence, I love that description, pretty sure it was Couture who said it

I paid good money for both of those fights; he gets paid top dollar.
I expect a fight. And if his opponent is not up to it, I expect a quick and brutal knockout.

The banter doesn't bother me, though. Comes with the territory.

Don't forget that Maia and Leites were injury replacements. He had a camp in place and then had to change for jiu-jitsu only fighters.

Again, to be the champ you gotta beat the champ.

Silva doesn't need to bring the fight to you, you need to bring it to him.

if you can't match it with the man you best stay out of his yard, right now Silva is the man so you either go hard or go to sleep

That's true, but he also has an obligation to perform.
I expect more than something out of the Kimbo / Houston Alexander "fight" from a champion.

as DW pointed out those guys were both replacement fighters, Silva would have been preparing for two different fighters before the fights were changed, he could have KO'd them pretty much whenever he felt like it if he wanted to but that really wouldn't be fair on the two guys who never should have been in that fight to begin with

Not sure what difference that makes. If he could of KO'd them, and I have not the slightest that he could have, why dance around like a fairy? Knock him the fuck out already. I don't shell out $50 to watch the champion circle the ring and taunt his opponent.
If I were Dana, I would have chewed his ass off for those performances.

Dana did say he'd be cut if he ever had a performance like he did in the Maia fight.

The Maia and Leites fights were such bullshit, I was so mad at Anderson Silva and lost a lot of respect for him. Supposedly Leites was a friend of his and he didn't want to knock him out, which is at least understandable at some level. The Maia fight was him proving some dumb point... God that fight was awful.

But since then he's regained that respect and then some, going on a brutal tear through some very competent fighters. I never want to see him lose, ever.

it's obvious he was never going to be serious in a fight against someone so far beneath his level, for a real Silva title fight check this one out

Look up the press conference dude, it was not an empty threat. He was super pissed. It was their first, and only, event in Abu Dhabi. Silva embarrassed the company that night in front of several rich and powerful people.

Fair enough. I don't really know what I'm talking about anyway. I'm just bored so I'm joining every conversation that's going.

Dana White would punch his own mother for the almighty dollar. And that's almost fine, because he is the coolest capitalist in my book.

And yeah, I never want to see Silva lose, ever.

UFC 155 is coming up, alot of unknown faces in the ticket, though... I'm so out of it.

I think Dos Santos takes it tough.
His boxing is fucking crisp, and he's got the jiu-jitsu, but Cain is a wrestler, and they seem to fare pretty well in this sport, so who knows.

He and the Fertitas took a nearly bankrupt company, bought for only a couple hundred thousand, and has turned into a media empire in just 10 years.

He's my idol.
