Looking forward to hearing this one. Although I do think it's pretty stupid to release it under any other name than Rage.

Indeed. It's a pure Rage album, has Smolski's handwriting all over it.
BTW, album is quite awesome.

Agreed it's a little weird to split the name into two bands, especially they can't really work separately on Rage or LMO since it's the same guys :). First it was Rage featuring LMO and not it's LMO featuring Rage... somebody somewhere thinks its a good idea I'm sure.

Now im trying to get into this and i love Rage but....something just rub me the wrong way. I sort of like it but the cheese factor is a bit too present for my taste.

But hey at least its not Freedom Call cheesy so its not that bad :P

Only albums I have from Rage are Strings to a Web (very good) and Speak of the Dead (not a big fan). Is this pretty similar to those, or a different beast altogether?

In my opinion they're very different, except Strings to a Web was also mostly written by Smolski, and was different from the usual Rage stuff in general. Probably best for you to sample the album and make your own opinion. You need to get your hands on Black In Mind, End of All Days, Lingua Mortis, XIII, 21 (their latest), SoundChaser (their best album). At the very least :).

Just my 2 cents

A symphonic masterpiece eh? Well it looks like this week I'll be spending some time with this one. I'm always a big fan of symphonic metal, and you haven't been wrong when something truly shines within the genre Chris. Always been hooked to your recommendations even when I was just a reader of the site.
