An Origin comparison moreso for me than Immolation. But yeah, I don't think you're giving this album a proper chance. It lacks the hooks that Destroyer had, but is equal in quality. Nothing they've put out since stands up to Everything is Fire though.

Hm, I did give it a fair few listens before writing this, but happy to come back to it...

A pretty inconsequential point. And I didn't mean to say that you simply needed to listen it to more. I just liked it alot is all.

This album in my eyes is indeed very good. It might be a mood thing for Zad. I yet have to listen to this album many more times to grasp its intricacies and then listen to Everything is Fire to able to do justice to the comparable study of these two albums. However, I highly doubt that after studying Vermis that it will get a lower score than an 80 as I have listened to it once already and it definitely doesn't deserve a 70. Everything is opinion I suppose.

absolutely immense record. ulcerate > 95% of all other death metal bands.
