How many times have we as young metalheads been sold on a record based on the bad-ass quality of it's cover. From the hazy churchyard scene of Sabbath's debut to the grim blackness of Transilvanian Hunger, these legendary images have defined both the message of the lyrics and the tone of the music contained within them. But what covers stand out most to you all? I will get the ball rolling with an all-time favorite of mine.



Nothing more need be said. As iconic as it gets.

God, so many. A few that come to mind:

A few more off the top of my head:



Probably the coolest, censored cover art ever produced. Heads and tails better than the intended cover which is very forgettable.



An epic and fitting work to Quorthon's musical vision.



It's my avatar for a reason, boys and girls. The band's very best cover IMO.

There are many more. Can't think of them immediately. This will do for now.

Lords of Twilight is a lightning bolt cover too, I was listening to that album a few weeks ago: still sounds very good.
