A short recording that is distinct in musical characteristics and formal in the organization of ideas. I had heard this album far back in the mid-2000 when it was first released and liked it very much but thereafter lost touch with it and never returned to it afterwards. It is certainly good to hear it once more.

This album intrigues me. I probably listen to it less than any Immortal album until after Sons of Northern Darkness, and it's understandably forgotten because their second album is clearly better, but it is strong in its own way.

Early Immortal is an era of a great BM band that I have never given a serious listen. Admittedly, I have to change that. And so, your opinion certainly weighs more here, than mine, North. I love later Immortal, most specially, the last two releases. At The Heart Of Winter, was and still is, a personal favorite.

My favorite Immortal is Sons of Northern Darkness.

Sons is a fantastic album. I wouldn't argue for 'better' or 'worse.' I have just listened to Winter a lot more. But I think I burnt out on Sons because I listened to it so much!
