had these guys first 2 albums but never really gave it a proper listen, got the next 2 albums and this shit rips.

Cosmic Putrefaction (Italy, 2024)

I am not familiar with the back-catalogue of Dying Fetus and the classification of this band on the Archives is DM and Brutal DM/Grind. DM it certainly is, but the grind and the brutal, I do not detect a great deal here. All is clear, production-wise, but the release, isn't horrifically heavy, and the extremity, which is shown on the cover, is not completely reflected, inside.

An eventful and manifold affair.

Well, Vicotnik, certainly has a rather unusual palate for the unruly and the uncanny. It must be readily admitted that he is a one of a kind musician, and even though, he is the main composer of Dodheimsgard, this particular side-project, still retains a separate musical identity, aside from the high enrichment of Dodheimsgard, as his main band. The music found on here still preserves an intimate relationship with the esoteric, and the mystical, both lyrically, and atmospherically, as it was the case, with the last two Dodheimsgard releases. I am not sure how often I can listen to this and still retain a sane state of mind, but the music on here, is without a doubt, rare. Out of this release, Dodheimsgard, and Ved Buens Ende, I like the latter the best because it is centered on major guitar-playing.

Seth has created such a meticulous, and a methodical release with the way the song-writing patiently, and unrushedly, develops, without ever haste, or hurry. The arrangements, the way the synths, the guitars, the vocals, and the drums/cymbal work are arranged, is brilliant because nothing is ever flashy, but everything radiates, with a brilliant bright light, without the feeling of it being imposed or violent in any way, considering this is BM. The melodies, the high sense of dynamism allowing for the lows, the mid, and the highs, from all fronts to unravel their true power, co-existing, leaving us with a release, which is top-notch, in every single respect.
