It isn't just the major maestro, who stands out in the band, but all of them are in a singular league of a master-class of musicians.

After many years of being away from this early Edge of Sanity album, it is great to return to this ageless recording, from the golden age of Swedish DM.

When I was much younger, naiver, and inexperienced, I could not completely discern, what it was about those unanimously agreed upon classics of Bathory, and what it was about them, which made them, so invaluably timeless, and so inexplicably influential. Now I do, and I am back taken aback, about Quorthon's ability to create the natural habitat of warfare and the idyllic, and the spiritual warfare conditions of the Vikings, with his music. He both composed, and he painted, with his ingeniously, and deceptively simple, musical climates. There shall be none other. He is long gone but never forgotten for he has left his indelible mark on extreme music.
