I haven't heard this yet, but I gave it a 100 8) WHY HASN'T ANYONE TOLD ME BEFORE THAT THEY SOUND LIKE GYBE!?!?!?! I seriously was under the assumption that Pelican was grind, or was that An Albatros? AWESOME review by the way!

Haha, yeah, An Albatross is grind with keyboards, the CDs last about 20 minutes each.

I think I'll try and check this Pelican release out.

Ahh... I dunno why everybody is falling over themselves over Pelican. They make me think of mid-80's experimental-rock/post-punk like Sonic Youth mashed up with God Speed You Black Emperor with a dash of Neurosis/Isis but without vocals. Actually, just reading that sounds pretty interesting... :)

It's good, but I didn't think it was that awesome. One instrumental album that I think never got the attention it deserved was Don Caballero's 2 on Touch'n'Go Records. Kinda like what I've heard from Disrhythmia but way heavier, less indie.

listening to this right now

The songs seem far more changeable than the Neurosis/YOB style I was expecting, with far more light and shade. it's cool so far 8)

edit: it was cool all the way through, I gave it an 85/100, which is high in the lizardtail scoring system.

You compare them to GYBE but have not reviewed GYBE on this site; how about a review of this still too little-known band who is absolutely AMAZING to catch live if you ever get a chance!

I would love to but... GY!BE is not Metal.

So... an über short review: Stick your Skinny Hands Like Antennas to heaven is an amazing album any music loving person needs in their collection. Emotional, powerfull, melancholic epic and inspiring are only some few words used to describe this incredible double album of symphonic post-rock bliss. Buy or die.

There you go...

Beautiful! I'm a metal freakin' maniac that has been waking up to "Beneath the Remains" for more years than I care to admit but when it comes to chillin' with a beverage or three and just enjoying life that album can't be beat....try listening on a secluded beach in the Canadian wilderness....ahhhhhh pass the moonshine! Thanks for that brief review and for all you black-metal freaks out there - give this shit a listen!

This is interesting music, for just sitting back and relaxing, with some very tensioning and dense moments, and some very calm.
I like this album, and I really like people working on instrumental music and not letting this genre die (be it metal, rock, death, doom , progressive, whatever ).

yeh, this is definitely an album that can be played in many situations and is quite good considering it is instrumental only

Vocals suck anyways, I think instrumental shit or shit with lesser vocals that common is usually better. The same with music that doesn't follow pop-like songstructures, it's more abstract.

If you like this, but want more rock n' roll, check out Capricorns.
