Are you mad??
Come on, Kiske era consists of Chameleon and Pink Bubbles Go Ape, easily their worst CDs. So you're saying that the Helloween and Walls Of Jericho EPs and the two Keepers albums define Helloween?? No way! The first two EPs have some really kick ass music, but are generally weak on songwriting.
On Keepers I, "Initiation" and "Follow The Sign" are fillers. Take those away and you have 34 minutes of music. "Twilight Of The Gods" is pretty weak, the rest are good, "A Tale That Wasn't Right," "Future World," are excellent and "Halloween" is a fucking metal classic!! Overall it's a great album, but falls short of classic status for me.
On Keepers II you've got "Invitation" for intro filler. "Rise And Fall" is not a good song, in my opinion. There are some killer songs such as "Dr. Stein" (same type of song as "Mrs. God"), "March Of Time" and "Keeper Of The Seven Keys." And of course the classic "I Want Out." Still, again, though it's a great album I don't consider it one of their finest moments on the whole.
Also, Deris-era Helloween really isn't very different in style. If those first Helloween albums had the same production value that even Master Of The Rings had, you wouldn't hear so much of a different band.
I started listening to Helloween in the 90's, maybe that's why I prefer the newer stuff, but I still feel like they wrote better songs after Kiske left the band. Not saying they didn't have some amazing tunes back then, but I don't like any Kiske album from beginning to end like I do most of the Deris Helloween albums. Thus, I think the Deris-era shit is better.
