I think that they just might pull this off and deliver an album that will be one of the better ones in many, many years.

I hope you're right man.

I think this release is a make or break kind of thing. It could be the end of Helloween's legacy, or the beginning of a new one.

The single song didn't impress me at all...I really hope the other songs on the single are better.

EDIT: your words about "King for A 1000 Years" sounds very promising. The title track from The Dark Ride is imo Helloweens best song ever and on my top 10 all time list.

Marty's review is spot on.

I think Mrs. God is a "safe" choice for the first single. It's nice, catchy, but not too adventurous. However, King for a Thousand Years is the best post-Kiske Helloween song, period. I knew this after hearing it only once. If the rest of the album features songs in this vein, it will live up to it's name!

Mrs God has a catchy chorus, almost sounds like a Pink Cream 69 song.....

The only one that sounds any good is the 13 minute track, and I'm still with-holding my opinion because the clips that I heard had nothing special...I'm only hoping that the other 12 minutes arent as boring. And Mrs. God....is a bad song. I hated it. The other two sounded like non-impressive power metal. I dont have much hope for this, in all honestly I'll probably buy it, and then sell it if it sucks...which it probably will.

I'd bet a million dollars that most Helloween fans that have been fans for a long time, and hold Keepers I and II in high regard, will talk nothing but shit about this new album!

I just downloaded "My Life For One More Day" and "Run (The Name Of Your Enemy) and both are excellent tunes. I have no idea why "Run" is a non-lp track! The clip on the site does it no justice at all, it's got a great hook, a killer solo, a mid-paced, heavy tune; classic Deris-era Helloween. The same goes for "My Life For One More Day," it mellows out after the first part of the verse and then kicks into the pre-chorus which is a bit bland because it's not so different from the first verse parts, but the hook is excellent and makes the previous complaint fairly pointless! It really grooves!! Another grea solo, too, and great drum work on both tunes.

Two excellent songs, if you ask me. I can't wait for this album!! Plus, I said before that I think "Mrs. God" is a killer Helloween tune! Just one more reason to look forward to this album!

I hold the first and second incarnations of Helloween to such a high standard that there's no way I can accept the crap Helloween is putting out now, its so far below the mark.

That being said there are still a couple of Andi Deris Helloween songs that I like...the only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Wake up the Mountain and Where the Rain Grows.

I have been a fan of Helloween since before some of you guys were born or some of you were probably in grade school and I happen to like both the Kiske and Deris era Helloween so I'm not a picky person when it comes to this band with that being said I am looking forward to the new Keeper album big time I have been waiting for a follow up to the Keeper stuff since Keeper 2 was out back in the 80's.

Now I have heard Mrs God and even seen the video and I want to say it's not that bad of a song that some are saying.I like it,it's catchy and yes even silly at times but that's Helloween for you.Helloween is known to add sillyness to seriousness in their music I mean those who are complaining about the new single remember that Keeper 2 had Dr Stein which some of us who have listen to Helloween for a long time consider that song a silly Helloween tune but that doesn't mean I don't like it I thought it was a nice twist on that album.

Now I am skeptical that it might not live up to the Keeper albums but then again how many albums can these days, those were classics and considered by far the greatest power/speed metal albums of all times but I'm going to buy the album in hopes that even though it might not live up to their originals it will still be a good album nonetheless.

And by the way I'm new here if you didn't already know lol

Come on, Kiske era consists of Chameleon and Pink Bubbles Go Ape, easily their worst CDs. So you're saying that the Helloween and Walls Of Jericho EPs and the two Keepers albums define Helloween?? No way! The first two EPs have some really kick ass music, but are generally weak on songwriting.

On Keepers I, "Initiation" and "Follow The Sign" are fillers. Take those away and you have 34 minutes of music. "Twilight Of The Gods" is pretty weak, the rest are good, "A Tale That Wasn't Right," "Future World," are excellent and "Halloween" is a fucking metal classic!! Overall it's a great album, but falls short of classic status for me.

On Keepers II you've got "Invitation" for intro filler. "Rise And Fall" is not a good song, in my opinion. There are some killer songs such as "Dr. Stein" (same type of song as "Mrs. God"), "March Of Time" and "Keeper Of The Seven Keys." And of course the classic "I Want Out." Still, again, though it's a great album I don't consider it one of their finest moments on the whole.

Also, Deris-era Helloween really isn't very different in style. If those first Helloween albums had the same production value that even Master Of The Rings had, you wouldn't hear so much of a different band.

I started listening to Helloween in the 90's, maybe that's why I prefer the newer stuff, but I still feel like they wrote better songs after Kiske left the band. Not saying they didn't have some amazing tunes back then, but I don't like any Kiske album from beginning to end like I do most of the Deris Helloween albums. Thus, I think the Deris-era shit is better.

That definitely won't happen. M. Weikath hated that album and now without R.Grapow and Uli Kusch...never.
TDR is my fav. Andy Deris era album though.

Like the single "King For 1000 Years" good song hope its a sign of what's to come. I've been a fan since mide 80s and think after Kai left it wasnt the same but Roland did a great job. After his leaving I really noticed the drop off on last album in guitar solo department.

Well, Walls Of Jericho wasn't an EP for one thing, and in any case, Kiske didn't feature on either it or the Helloween EP.

The Hansen era was Helloween's best, I won't dispute that. The Kiske years are a different matter - two excellent albums, two very suspect ones.

As for the Deris era, the only album I'm not convinced of is Rabbit Don't Come Easy, which I still haven't listened to in great detail. The previous four are all enjoyable and in fact displayed a great album-to-album progression.

You're right, but that was a simple typo mistake and not really my point.

Hansen-era on vocals?? No way in hell!

I was actually really suprised at how solid Rabbit Don't Come Easy was/is. Considering that Gerstner contributed to a good number of the songs. I think it's a very underrated album simply because everyone had the expectation that it would be after Grapow and Kusch left. Great album in my opinon.
