Everything I've heard from this band I've loved. Must get some! And the singer has a great King Buzzo hair style!

I played through In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth a few time and I can't manage to get into their style. I know I'm losing out, but hey.. I can't like everything. People do consider this progressive anyway, it's listen on progarchives.com with generally positive reviews.

If there's a modern, non-metal band taking prog in a direction of which I approve, it's the Mars Volta, and it will continue to be the Mars Volta for a long while.

I'll give this one a miss, but nice review.

Never understood how these guys were labeled 'emo'. First heard them on the radio (thats right the radio) here in Aus about 2 or 3 years ago, and I heard In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3, they played it in full, and I was blown away. Yeah Claudios voice is high pitched but its sure unique. The first thought was prog metalish, but there are so many styles in C&Cs music. And for some reason everytime Im listening to them I can help but think about the x-box game Halo, especially the 'man your battle stations' line in that song.
Anyway bought In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3 thought it was a kick ass album, bought Second Stage Turbine Blade, didnt like it as much (still dont), I have their Live DVD on the way from the US, and have listened to Burning Star IV a few times. I have to say the production I feel isnt as good as IKSOSE3, but for some reason it gets better as the album progresses.
There are some guitar solos in the first few tracks which are burried deep in the mix, but it still sounds really good. The lyrics at times have very violent overtones, and the story is very good too.
Its one of those releases that you can enjoy on its own, but if you get the taste, check out the other 2 albums to find out more about whats going on.
I still think that IKSOSE3 is better that Burning Star 4, but all 3 of the albums are worth checking out, the website has samples to get some idea, but definitly check them out if it sparks an interest.

SIDE NOTE - Since this is labelled as a Volume 1, leads me to believe (duhh  ) therell be a volume 2, and would that be before or after the first part of the story? (C&Cs first album was Second Stage Turbine Blade, which is the 2nd part of the story, next was In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3, which as you can guess is part 3, now they have released Burning Star IV, etc. However they are still to release part 1)

Yes, the album titles are confusing.

I'm glad to see more Co & Ca fans on the site. Without a doubt one of my top three bands ever.

So far parts 2 (TSTB),3 (IKSOSE:3) and 4.1 (this album) of the story have been released. 4.2 will come next, followed by part 1. Also a graphic novel explaining part 4.1 has just been released so be sure to check it out.

All of Co & Ca's albums are amazing so be sure to check 'em out. In fact, this one is my least favorite and it has a score of 94 so imagine how good the others are.

Oh and lizardtail, try this one out. It is more mature and elaborate than IKSOSE:3, so maybe this is where you'll find love for this guys.

I could try to explain but it's easier if you download some songs to get the point.

Here's one:

Taking Back Sunday - You're So Last Summer

I downloaded the album to see what all the hype was. Only good song IMO is the Welcome Home one. The rest is crap.

This actually sounds very very interesting. I've heard a lot of retarded emo-kids praising this band, but from what I've heard, it doesn't sound like Emo at all.

I'm definately gonna check this out.

The vocals just kill this band for me! I cannot stand the vocals! It's sound like this guy's on a permanant helium high!! Terrible. Musically they may be amazing, but the vocals just ruin it for me.

As I wrote in my review, the vocals seem to be the most common hate factor with Co & Ca (personally I love 'em). I can only recommend you to give it another try. Who knows? Maybe the vocals sink in this time...

I have no problems with the vocals in C&C, I think they're great, a bit reminescent of Geddy Lee (Rush) actually... as does the music...

imo, this has nothing in common with the emo scene, I won't label it modern prog though (this suits better The Mars Volta) but it's certainly the best modern rock I heard in a long long time....

also, this new album is awesome (I gave it a 90/100 and everubody here knows I rate quite low) but I think it's best to start with their debut album (The Second Stage Turbine Blade, their more metal) since Apollo is a bit more of an acquired taste...

so far I gave it about half a dozen spins and it keeps growing on me, so people, try harder if it doesn't strike you right away ! :D

this will sure be on my all-genres 2005 top ten, it's THAT good !
