I bought this album just b/c of the mixed reviews it is getting.

Hope it comes in the mail today.

Extremely poor review.

This album is taking much longer to sink in and I’m not sure how long it will take or if it will ever sink in at all.

Don't bother reviewing it at all. Or better yet, so you can improve, go back and read your review of Tempo of the damned and tell me what is different about that album and the new one. Admit it, you don't like the vocallist or something.

Personally, I disagree with your score. I think it's an intense slice of thrash, no more no less, and worth around 80, perhaps 85. The only complain really is the length of a couple of the songs where the riffs don't need to be played for 7 minutes, but would have made classic 3 or 4 minute tracks. I haven't got the album on hand, but probably about the third song and don't get me wrong, I think they've carved out some nice riffs here.

The drumming's on track - Paul Bosteph is a demon - as is the new vocallist, although I don't expect him to stick around for more than an album or two for some reason. Gary Holt remains in the band and at the very least the addition of these two new members has given him the kick up the arse needed to better "Tempo", which is certainly saying somehting unlike your review..

Long time guitarist Rick Hunolt departed the band prior to the current album recordings because of family commitments and has since been replaced by another well known Bay Area axe shredder, Lee Altus (ex-Heathen).

Altus is still in Heathen.

Are we listening to the same cd?
I have listened to Exodus since day 1 in the early 80's,and I think this is an INCREDIBLE piece of work.True traditional trash at it's finest. As for memorable songs...I have TRIED,but CANNOT got the title track out of my head.I see them this Thursday so it really doesn't matter....I'll probably bleed to death. The last time I saw Exodus(1987-The Sundome in Tampa Florida W/Celtic Frost and Anthrax),the barracade broke 1st song and so did some guys leg....NICE!!!

SHKM OWNS!!!!

I respect your opinion on this. I do think the overall muscianship is phenomenal when it comes to the drums and guitars. I just don't think the structure of the songs are as good or as memorable as those compared to the last release and any before it. Personally for me, I have given this album a number of spins and fair listens and that is why I wrote what I wrote in conclusion.

As far as Lee Altus, there is some confusion on this.....I've read that he is not in Heathen anymore even though they have a new album coming out so I don't know what to believe.

This album is incredibly dissapointing. I don't get why so many people are proclaiming this as the thrashiest album to be released in recent years; most of the riffs on here are just groovey bullshit, and there are very few actual thrash riffs.

48/100

I never found Exodus that interesting. Sure, they play great thrash, but it's very boring music, for extreme fans only.

Never been a big fan. Always thought Exodus one of the weakest of the bay area thrash bands. I was partial to Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Forbidden, Wrathchild America. But this release is good for them 72/100

Wrathchild America! Now that is a band whose debut is killer! I got a chance to hang with one of the guitarists at a club in Syracuse back in the college days. In fact, I have a really funny picture of us all taking a leak in the urinals, sepearate of course (LOL!). If I find it I'll post it.

It says on the Heathen message boards that Lee is still in the band. This Exodus thing is just a side project.

I don't get it eithier. I think it's because people have forgotten what Thrash really is. I've only heard 2 tracks from this album and I wasn't impressed to say the least. IMO, Tempo was fantastic but this, this just passed by and didn't even bother saying hello. I'll take my Thrash without any groove thank you very much.

Indeeed. And they do have a new album coming out soon. Go to their website and check the forum for three new demo tracks. They're sick!
