Norsecore is a pretty subjective term..... it can also mean music that is followed after Transilvanian Hunger. Blast beats, tremolo riffing, and raw production.

I like those riffs in BM if they're done well. The opening riff to satyricons mother north is a pretty fine example. Tremolo riffs are supposed to be fast as in not like the one in transilvanian hunger. It uses the same tones all the time but they're played slowly, not that it lowers their quality at all though. From what I've heard there are two kinds of major guitar sounds in BM, the constant "buzzing" and the fast picking tremolo type. Then there are the thrashier sounding variants and stuff but anyway, just my opinion. Blast beats and fast riffs aren't the doom of a song necessarily, a lot of emotion can be transmitted with the skilled use of these two as well. But bands like Marduk and Dark Funeral etc just don't impress me.

Well how do you expect a post this many pages long to be all about the initial topic?

The term norsecore was originally used to describe generic norwegian-style black metal. Back in the mid- to late-90's when everyone and their brother had a black metal band.

I dunno... reminds me of a girl i was talking with over msn... she kept complaining about how her life... and then conversation lead to a point where i naturally had to tell her a tiny bit about myself, a fact that was needed... and then she asked me: " Why did you start talking about yourself?", and then she was pissed at me  ... and she probably still is...

so i guess that's natural... but still... my guess is that 80 % of those of those non-bm threads where Misha appears will end up having bm-talk in them :D, he he... but hey! Black metal ist krieg! so that's okay...

I don't care what norsecore originally meant. Saying that TH is generic black metal is wrong.

Otakon said "music that followed after TH". He was talking about the hordes of Darkthrone-ripoffs, not Darkthrone.

Hahaha, funny story. Well that aside, even though I'm not a BM-head it's still a more interesting topic and I'm more familiar with it than with Disturbed. To tell you the truth I was just thinking "hey they're talking about something that even I can reply to" and I didn't even remember this thread was about something completely different haha.
Ok, let's make it more random, I'm currently listening to the London symphony orchestra playing the theme from Mario Bros.

ha ha

but i agree with you that BM is more interisting than the original topic, since i don't listen to Disturped.. but i think it wrong somehow to turn every "un-interesting" (non-bm topics) topics into bm-talk :D ... bm-talk belongs in bm topics, i think... ( yeah, i know how tough that would be  - black metal ist krieg after all)

Mainstream or not, Disturbed is a good band. A bit simplistic and they never stray from their original formula much, but still a good band all the same.

Right you are young jedi... sorry I just finished watching The Revenge Of The Sith :). Anyway, I agree and my point wasn't to disagree from the beginning, too many threads turn to BM here due to a big part of the regular posters being so interested in the subject. Of course I'd wish there would be more talk about the bands that I like about as well but since things are as they are I'll just participate as I can.
