I am also pissed the fuck off, but in a slightly more abstract way. I currently reside in a small and beautiful New England town. One of the neighboring small and beautiful New England towns is currently the projected site of a Wal-Mart Supercenter. They already have a Wal-Mart in the shopping complex, of course, which would be closed and left vacant if the Supercenter gets built. Even ignoring the fact that Wal-Mart is the embodiment of petty, disgusting evil in their labor, environmental and social practices and would most likely kill every small business in the neighboring towns, the construction plan is fucking nuts. They want to divert all the current shopping traffic plus the added Supercenter onto a farm road. People have almost hit cows on this road, and they want it to handle tens of thousands of cars a day. The traffic would get so fucked up the local bus system would add ten minutes onto every trip (which is already crap), and on top of that, they'd be building on wetlands and farmlands.
I really want to go to Nebraska and firebomb the headquarters, but I'll settle for canvasing with a petition to the local government and carrying an angry sign at the rally on Saturday.
that sucks...and its happenning all over. My lovely paradise of a home in an edge-of-town housing area is being threatened by the triple headed evil of Tesco-Ikea-Ikano. Its not even safe for kids to cycle around in the evenings anymore with all the traffic. Plus all the small shops are dying out one by one as more and more people turn to Tesco.
