This disc by Rdemption is not bad but imo only warrants a quote of 65% due it being generic, boring prog. On the other hand if you want excellent prog with passion and heaviness check out the album of Circus Maximus. Total ass-kicking prog - this is what Octavarium should have sounded like.

I just got this album the other day, and i must say this is definately top 5 this year, Its better then Dt and Circus Maximus, therye too generic if you ask me. But on to this album, well i liked the first Redemption, but it wasnt nearly as good as this one, wow the first thing that stand out is the vocals of Ray Alder, damm him singing these type of lyrics, emotional and powerful, secondly, this album is heavy as fuck, sounds like Evergrey but make no mistake about it, Redemption has its own sound. Not one song feels out of place like the first album and this is one album that all prog/power metal fans need to check out. Great review Ben, didn't agree with you on the Pagans Mind album, but this review is dead on. Get it now all.

Fav songs: Sapphire, Pakers Eyes, Fullness of Time I-IV

totally agree with the above, this album scores 95 with me, and gets better each time i listen. For me Redemption are the new kings of progressive metal, the big question is can they stay there? :)

Redemption and Zero Hour are the kings right now, for me anyway.

I would call Redemption and Zero Hour something like prog-tech-metal. Hahaha. Nevermind.

This album seems very generic. I was hopeing for something mind blowing, but I get boring prog. Maybe it will grow on me (Prog tends to sneak up on me after repeated lsitens). I'll give it a try a little later, but there is no way this is better than Circus Maximus. Also another prog band that really shook me was Stride with their 05 release Imagine. That CD is brilliant.

Circus Maximus is much more a prog-power metal album. I would never even compare the two. Redemption is more in the Zero Hour vein, something like traditional, technical metal, but with a serious prog lean, or something. I think this album is awesome. It's weird that you would find it generic.

That was a quick judgment I placed on them after hearing half the album. I should know better. I've done the same thing to past albums, and then I play the CD a month later and find it to be one of my favorites of the year. Well, this is definitely not my pick of the year, but it sure deserves more than what I said about it in my previous post. I'm on my second spin now, and the beginning still seems a bit like every other prog band, but I know for a fact that after Sapphire the album picks up (hopefully sooner after a second listen). Anyway, I’m retarded, and “The Fullness of Time IV. Transcendence” is fucking great.

Yea, Redemption to me sounded at first like a generic prog band with kind of angsty lyrics, but then when I listened to it more and more it grew on me a lot
