What a fantastic book.

since i've just ended reading a lot of Plinius(both the Elder and Younger) at school i should tell you that the younger will suit you very much if you like Cicero, his Epistulae are a literal masterpiece while the Elder's Naturalis Historia is better if you want the view on nature (see the title) in that particular time.

Thank you for the reccomendations, my good man. I do intend to read both Plinius's soon, though first I think I'll end up reading at least some of the history of Livius, and see if I enjoy that (as his reputation for using incorrect facts to support a wider theme kind of discourages me at this point). Are you studying classical history as your major, by any chance?

 i wish..i'm 15 my man, if you didn't know yet. I study latin so i have to translate texts and books by classical age authors. I don't know if it makes me a nerd but i enjoy reading all of them very much. Anyways, if you are in search for more classical authors, tell me

Ahh, you lucky bastard... I've always wanted to learn latin, but no school I've gone to thus far has offered it. That must be quite excellent... And if reading classical history makes one a nerd, then I am a huge one as well. I bought Livy's War With Hannibal today, so I'll be able to tell you if that's any good and hopefully reccomend stuff to you as well. Keep on rocking.

oh, almost forgot to ask, have you ever seen the television series of 'I Claudius'? nothing special but still nice to see. And i don't know if you know/mentioned him but try Ovidius!

No I have not... I've really wanted to, and that may be what I'm asking for for my birthday in six months or so, since its relatively expensive (60 bucks Canadian, I think) and is supposed to be incredible. As for Ovidius, I have yet to read any of his poetry but I have heard of him many a time.

Actually, I'm reading the second 1602 graphic novel right now.. and so far I'm thinking they should have made the Gaiman series a one time event. That original was a great idea, and had me glued to the page throughout.

About 350 pages into The War With Hannibal (Books 31-40 of Livius' History of Rome) and its quite excellent, though I do wish he was less biased.

I think I'm finally going to start reading Thucydides : History of the Peloponnesian War. I bought it a couple of months ago after Brahm recommended it, but I haven't had a chance to read it with all the research I've been doing for my paper.

I just finished In The Wake of The Plague by Norman F. Cantor. It was really interesting. If you like conflicting theories about historical events (in this case The Black Death) check this book out.

It's surprisingly short. It's still really good, though.

Great series. Some day I'm going to read the Mallorean series. Then there are the one-off books, Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress, which may be good to read. I'm wary of Eddings since The Dreamers series was so bad, but like I think I mentioned before in this thread, I hear the early stuff is very good.

EDIT: I see you started book 4 already. I hate you fast readers!

Finished Siddhartha already... Man, that was quite the fast read. Quite the good one too. :D

Now.. I'm on to bigger endeavours.
