Mourning Caress was founded by vocalist Gerrit and drummer Dominik at the end of 1998. One year later, after the arrival of Benedikt, Florian and Daniel, the band released its first attack called The Divine Grave (an underground release). The second release (MCD, Perspectives) hits the street back in 2000 and the reactions to Perspectives were far greater than expected.

After having signed a deal with the Spanish label in spring 2001 (Arise Records), the band entered in studio last November and the first real full album, mastered in the Finnvox studio in Finland, arrives this year. The artwork of Imbalance was created by Niklaus Sundin (graphic designer .... and guitarist of Dark Tranquility).

Let's be straight : Mourning Caress is very influenced by In Flames. The notable divergence between the two bands is this "atmospheric" touch, not to say a gothic touch (Escape). The vocals are very similar compare to In Flames and even though this band comes from Germany, the melodies are clearly coming from .... Sweden. Actually, I would have bet a fortune Morning Caress was coming from Sweden. Thanks God, nobody was there to take the bet !!!

The best moments are Creating A Hell, I Follow The Rain, A Lifeless Time and the superb mid-tempo "crying song" called Falling. The killing riffs that hunted my head after the first spin is found on fifth track, The Chain. If you like these Swedish death metal melodic bands (In Flames, Dark Tranquility, At The Gates, ...), you should definitely check Mourning Caress.

Imbalance is not a revolutionary step in this metal style, but it contains honest songs consisting of catchy rocking riffs, aggressive vocals, melancholic melodies, clean guitars and a powerful rhythm section. Nothing new here, but as said above, if you like Clayman or Colony (In Flames) ... you will also appreciate this Imbalance.

In other words, here comes a new record for all fans of Swedish melodic death metal out there ...
