The music of Mactatus reminds me a lot of the symphonic black metal of Old Man's Child, but their new release Suicide is not as good as Old Man's Child latest offering Revelation 666 (also recorded at Abyss Studios). Dimmu Borgir and early Susperia are also names that might come to mind. However, although there is nothing groundbreaking or innovative here, this is quite a good mainstream black metal release. The album is ten songs of a combination of melodic and aggressive guitars riffs and keyboard arrangements, without sacrificing an ounce of aggression all the while not offer anything outside the black metal realm that has already been explored. The band does not rely on purely black metal, I have noticed elements of death metal throughout this album, but black metal certainly is the foundation upon which this whole album was built.
To be honest, this is an album that ranks among many other releases that you don't need to possess, unless you are into mainstream black metal.
