I drink a ton of beer and a lot of it consists of imported beers. We have people from all over the world here (MR), so I'd like to get some feedback from everybody. What do you recommend? What is the favorite in your area? What are you drinking this very moment? What is the most overrated/underrated? Just tell me your preference. And all you vodka/whiskey/hard liquor snobs can stay out please.

My favorite at the moment is Boddington's. I love the creamy head (grow up) and how crisp and refreshing it is. I can drink it while I eat a meal and not get overly bloated and full. I actually prefer it at about room temp. It doesn't taste nearly as good cold.

Right now I'm drinking Sam Adams Double Bock (Imperial Series). I love dark thick rich beers, but WOW! This is one of the thickest I've had. A little much. Plus the alcohol content is almost 10%. I'll be working on this one for a while.

Pike Pale Ale out of Seattle is my favorite, though I mainly stick to Scotch and Vodka.

Also like Widmer Bros. Hefewiesen quite a lot.

Wintermute

I drink a fair bit of Busch Light. And Coors Light. This is not really by choice. Being of the college-attending age I find myself encountering these two often. I know that they taste like piss.

It's pretty hard to find, but it is sublime; Boddington's is very nice, too, I agree. Surprisingly mellow for an ale.
Guinness is a stock answer, but man, is it good.

Portugal doesn't have any of that microbrewery stuff, but our 2 major beers are pretty good, actually. Super Bock can be found in places with large Portuguese communities, my cousin in London drinks it all the time.

i remember 2 beers that i really liked in my trip to the USA - 312, out of goose island or something, i think, and Blue Moon.

in Nottingham i really enjoyed ale, especially one i tasted at The Trip to Jerusalem, the oldest inn in the UK.

Yes, 312 is great. I'm a big fan of Goose Island. Especially their IPA.

And Negro Modelo is awesome as well. Sometimes I just get the Modelo Especial b/c the can it comes in. lol

I need to try Goose Island beer, because if it's anything as good as their root beer, it'll be amaazzzing.

And I've had some real beer. I just don't see it that often. I went to the Hofbräuhaus last time I was in Munich and had my family buy me beer. That was pretty fucking cool. I'm hazy on the names though. They were all solid.

Beers here are great, although I did enjoy those in Prague and London as well.

My favorites:

just plain beer: Jupiler or Stella
heavier ones: Grimbergen Optimo Bruno, Duvel and St. Bernardus 12
light but special beers: Rodenbach

Guiness is amazing. My current favourite drink is the Black And Tan, or Guiness and Kilkenny together in a glass.

Otherwise a good Swiss beer is Eichof.

Lagers: Stella, Vedett, Bel, Crystal.

Heavies: Duvel, Westmalle Tripel, Tripel Karmeliet, Witkap Tripel.

I, too, like Guiness. Milwaukee is also a good brand of beer.

By the way, if anybody is ever in Omaha, Nebraska, you must go to the Upstream Brewing Company in Downtown Omaha. Omaha's best brewery. You can also find their stuff at LOCAL distributors. My recommendation is their Dundee Scotch Ale. They also have a monthly Cask Ale <- YUM!

Stella is overrated but it's still beter than most Belgian lagers.

Ummm for Aussie beers, even though they advertise as the aussie beer overseas no one ever drinks Fosters. VB and XXXX also suck.

Tooheys make some ok beers, their Pilsener is nice.

Personally I like the two big Japanese beers quite a lot (Asahi and Kirin).

Do other countries have this huge push toward 'blonde' beers (That is low carb beers)?

Oh and I only drink beer these days because I have given up on drinking coke with spirits.
