Azrael wrotei don't think the Wii-mote is a gimmick. for strategy, shooting and even racing games there is great potential in such a remote, on the other hand they ahve to understand that some games simply work better with a normal controller.and yeah, releasing accessible games is a good idea for attracting a more casual crowd, but they seem to forget the more dedicated gamers. i mean Zelda looks awesome and Metroid will probably rule, but besides that...
I was just really disappointed after watching all those previews and hearing all the hype about how revolutionary the Wii would be to gaming, and after actually playing it realizing that it doesn't work as well as they said it would. In terms of the technology it uses there's not that much that they'll be able to do with it. Take sword-fighting games for example, when you swing the wiimote the game recognizes the movement and executes the sword-swing in game, but that's all that it does, you can't really hit anyone in the game by yourself, you're just triggering the action.
It's basically the same thing as pushing a button, and personally I'm already tired of using the wiimote and all these games pretending like you're actually doing something really revolutionary, that's why I think it's a gimmick.
I'm still looking forward to the deeper games that are being released later on, like Metroid Prime 3 for example and of course fun games like Super Smash, all I hope is that they won't make the games too reliant on the wiimote, just give me the games minus the gimmick and I'll be happy.
