I actually find Schultz and Matthews to be the most partisan, at certain times Olbermann was critical of Obama, though nowhere near as vitriolic as he was towards Bush. Nowhere in my post was I suggesting he wasn't partisan, keeping in mind that both corporate stations and conversations about politics are less about "truth" and more about evangelism. Olbermann performed his role as a corporate shill for MSNBC, and with Comcast picking up MSNBC, Maddow and them maybe next.

Fair enough.

MSNBC's political televangelists regularly showcase teapartiers as num-skulled racist reactionaries, castigate every nutjob violent offender as some right-wing lunatic, slaps the wrists of the democrats as opposed to full-frontal criticism, and unsurprisingly sullies the Republicans and other televangelists on their fellow liberal station FAUX news. While the network in and of itself may lack the nauseatingly vapid Sarah Palin, the whining and Mccarthyite Beck, and the neocon hack Hannity I see little distinguishing it from FAUX.

To be partisan, he would have to never go against the party line. Partisan politics are party-based, not ideal-based. If Olbermann criticizes democrats because he thinks they're not being liberal enough, he's ignoring party lines to uphold an ideal. Hardly partisan.

the weakest aspect of either individual is the anti-communist nonsense, with Buckley my issue is his defense of Mccarthy, Buckley judging by a few things was also a foreign policy interventionist, other than that he isn't all that different than Goldwater was.

Everybody has something that is disagreeable about their philosophy; Buckley was smart, but he wasn't flawless.
At any rate, the anti-communism was a product of the era.
And, to be perfectly blunt, communism goes against everything that makes humans excel.
One of the most interesting interviews I've seen is the one with Buckley and Norman Mailer.
Two intellectuals on opposite sides (more or less) of the political spectrum.

The way I see it, the biggest dissapointment (other than being hijacked by neo-cons) of the conservative movement is that it has been co-opted by religious fanatics.
That and becoming, by and large, corporate puppets.
Still, their are a few true paleo-conservatives left.
