Here. Lovely album, better than its reputation...
A fine David Gilmour album, but hardly a fine Pink Floyd album.
I still like it (as with the rest of the PF discography, I own various releases of it) but it's reputation is, I would say, deserved.
I feel the same way about The Final Cut, where even moreso than The Wall, Roger Waters' presence is too keenly felt. What those 2 albums made evident was that while both men were clearly talented and had admirable artistic visions of their own, they were nothing alone compared to what they could be together.
(Waters' subsequent solo career was further proof of this, with the possible exception of his first one, which I have a soft spot for).
Releasing what basically amounted to solo albums and then putting the Pink Floyd name on it is what left so many fans feeling a little hard done by.
So, yes, a fine album of songs when taken as a Gilmour project, but definitely a sub-par Pink Floyd album.
(But still better than A Momentary Lapse of Reason!)
