Films watched recently... (CAUTION, SPOILERS)

I have suffered in silence for years about my inability to make it through THE GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME, but now I feel I'm in safe company.I only made it halfway through the Big Lebowski before going "Meh" and turning it off.

I hated big lebowski the first time I watched it. Completely disappointed after all the hype. The humor flew right over my head.

Then, one time I watched it with friends and was drinking beer, just generally in a better mood and BOOM. One of my favorite movies since then.

I think The Big Lebowski needs to be watched twice to really get into it. The Coens play by a different set of rules from other movie makers so the first time I see one of their movies my reaction is "what's going on? :blink: " and then on repeat viewings I can actually appreciate the movie because the logic of what happens is more apparent. Wes Anderson movies are like that too.

I've seen it like four times and yeah I laugh but it's one of those movies greatly ruined by douchebags who quote it 8x an hour.

I didn't know he made that movie :ph34r: I've always avoided watching because I don't like Daniel Day-Lewis all that much.

Boogie Nights I liked, but I disliked Magnolia quite a lot.

I don't like his whole method acting thing. Takes it too far. Also, he won some award around the time Heath Ledger died, and dedicated it to him, despite never having met the guy! :huh:

I've never taken much of interest into his other movies, but There Will Be Blood is decidedly worth watching. If you've ever liked a Kubrick film you should definitely watch it.

I like all the Kubrick I've seen, from Strangelove onwards, except Eyes Wide Shut. Decent idea fucked over by Tom and Nicole.
