been a long, long time since I've watched UFC, last time I watched it Ortiz and Couture were still fighting, Ortiz always was a favourite of mine, if the fights are still that good maybe I'll have something besides Muay Thai to satiate my bloodlust

The UFC is at a crossroads right now. So many fighters, so many events, so many great fights scheduled. That may sound all fine and dandy, but more events means more sub-par fighters they have to sign to fill out cards. Means more injuries to fighters, thus having big fights cancelled or delayed. They are going through some growing pains, but they are starting to take over the world. Just had a show in China. Singed a huge network deal in Indonesia. Just announced anothe event in Japan. Next week they are in Canada. Just last moth they were in Brazil. And an upcoming show in Australia.

All in all, it's a great time to be a MMA/UFC fan. Just need to put up with a few dull fights. But as soon as you learn the new guys names, their strengths, etc.. You'll see just how far the sport has come from the Couture-Ortiz days.

Speaking of Randy. He's my all time favourite fighter. He was the man when I really got back into MMA; he will always be my #1.

like I said I've been more interested in Muay Thai lately, that shit is absolutely vicious, I can't name fighters off the top of my head unfortunately but damn there are some great fighters in that sport

I'm thinking GSP a safe bet. He has to be. I'm leaning towards Carmont because I like what I've seen of him in the UFC, but he hasn't fought much and Lawlor has never impressed me. Ring is a pretender.

no wonder he's so dominant then, put your average MMA competitor against your average Muay Thai fighter and I'd say ninety nine times out of one hundred the Muay Thai fighter would win competing under MMA rules would probably see a sixty forty split in favour of the Muay Thai fighter, put a very good MMA fighter against a very good Muay Thai fighter and it's more likely the MMA fighter will lose every time so I'm hardly surprised a fighter who has a winning Muay Thai record and has gone through the insane training those guys go through is demolishing everyone he comes across in UFC

I think most mma fighters will struggle against all other disciplines when competing in their sport, it's only natural when thinking about how well rounded you need to be to excel in mma. You could be the best striker in the world but unless you know how to stop people from putting you on your back, you won't amount to anything. I don't think there's much wrestling and submission in muay thai, (none as far as I know?), which would make them very likely to lose against any experienced mma fighter with half a brain.

Anderson Silva is dominant because of his muay thai, but it's years I training in wrestling/judo and his black belt in jiu-jitsu have kept him around. It's pretty ignorant saying a muay thai fighter would dominate in MMA jus because hes good at that one discipline. Can a muay thai fighter stop an all American wrestler from putting him on his back and smashing his head into the canvas? No. Can a muay thai guy defend against anaconda choke? Triangle chokes? Arm bars? Being performed by a jiu-jitsu black belt? No. You need to know everything in MMA not just 1 or 2.
