SPOILERS:
I like how they offed that one cop because he is obviously smart enough to figure it out. The fact that he would go and kill just irked me. Maybe in past situations where he said fuck it and went and murdered someone it worked, but not after your sister sees you stabbing a dude. Creepy ex-lab tech, LaGuerta's suspicion and possible Russian crime ring might be solid storylines, but they're going to be second fiddle to Deb and Dex and hence probably not as good. The whole credit card thing was stupid besides the fact that it made us think he was on the lam.

Certainly the best episode of the last 2-3 seasons.

And he killed that dude at the airport because he needed to. He has an addiction and shit is starting to get real. Just like a drunk or crack addict.

Boardwalk Empire is listless and boring right now, unsurprisingly evoking season 6 Sopranos (for which Terrence Winter also wrote). The problem is the show is stuck in 1923 and nothing really historical happens until 1925.

It has some awesome replay value. The first season is starting to get a bit slow with episodes that are Duncan playing detective, but I think once I get to the second season it's going to be all flashback, all swordfights, all the time. None of this girly love romance stuff with Tessa, just banging chicks and slicing necks all the live long day.

I'd like to know what exactly was wrong with Dexter? Has the best episode in 2+ seasons and people still complain. It even had that dude from Rome in it, like come on.

I pretty much gave up Dexter after last season, and this season's plot seems extremely predictable. But maybe I'll pick up on it.

Really, Wally? The acting in that opening scene of being caught in the act was awful. Like yeah it was tense, because at any moment, I was waiting for him to choke her out but the acting and the dialogue was just so cumbersome. Then they lit the body on fire from the exit. If they lit the fire from the exit, how did Travis Marshall light the fire then climb up on the table and impale himself? The trail of the stream just wouldn't make sense I don't think. Then cut to black guy figuring out that it wasn't an open and shut case, only to have him shot. Why have him mention it if he is going to get shot? How convenient it is it that the one competent detective gets killed as Dexter fucks shit up. And so yeah he's addicted to killing, but really? He is really going to take a guy in the airport and kill him right there? That's so not his character. Maybe he's supposed to be being irrational, but it didn't fit. And then he just dumped the whole body? Nah. That's not the Dexter I came to love. Then creepy lab tech guy had no reason to cancel his credit cards except in order to make his drive to the airport seem as if he was on the lam. It fulfilled no logical purpose except to make the editing trick they used seem more dramatic and that's bullshit storytelling. Oh, and you know that drama we created last season between Bautista and Quinn, we'll undermine that in three seconds because they were both bullshitting the other one. Storyline closed. The show's writing just isn't being planned well and the show is coming off as hodge podged together and weak because of it. And Deb is really accepting Dexter's bullshit after she experienced that shit and how she knows he is Rudy's brother? That's the worst part of it all. Bitch was abducted and sees the same pattern and is cool with it? That's not how traumatized victims behave.

The opening scene the acting was bad because his sister is not the best actress in my opinion. As for the lab tech deleting his credit cards idk wtf he did that. Your right. Dexter never would of killed that guy in the airport. And he never would have dumped a whole body without cutting it up first. I still liked the episode but there were many inconsistencies.

Just finished watching all four seasons of Southland. Probably the best cop show I've seen since The Shield.

I think it's time you find a new show to pick apart. Dexter has always been spotty with some of its writing even back in the first couple seasons. There was always those moments or scenes that just made you say "fuck off" but whatever you take the bad with the good. As for them starting the fire in the middle of the church, Masuka points out that the fire guys had already established that and they thought it didn't make sense. As for Dex killing guy at the airport, I'll go deeper into what I meant. Dexter has a habit much like people get addicted to drugs or alcohol and when those peoples lives turn to shit they embrace the booze or coke or whatever disregarding any damage it may cause. So with that in mind, you don't think that Dexter is a fucking nut case right now with all this shit going on and just needed his fix? He didn't care where or when or how, he just needed it. And the brilliance of TV made it be the gangster that killed the cop. Maybe we are just watching from different persepectives, but it sounds like you come into every episode wanting it to suck just so you can point it out. I watch it cause I enjoy watching it and I have sat through 6 seasons already, not stopping now. And although last season was terrible, its not like it's the worst thing that ever happened to television like some people are making it out to be.

Tried the new NBC show Animal Practice, meh. The best is when Bobby Lee is being strangled by the snake and nobody seems to react/care. Either than that, cheesy tv sitcom bullshit.

That's the same boat I'm in and for the most part, I enjoyed the last season until the shit hit the fan as every season of Dexter does. I was on board till the pace went breakneck.

Maybe I was duped all those years watching the first four seasons, but they never seemed to be stretched so thin in terms of writing as this episode. And I get the addiction analogy, but the thing is that addiction or not, I still want him to be smart and methodical. Maybe that was the point, that is, maybe he is supposed to be coming apart. Whatever.

Tonight: Sons of Anarchy and Parenthood.
Tomorrow night: Supernatural's first episode of the new season.

No offence intended, trapt, but I think it's kind of funny that you can take umbrage at the writing on Dexter and then go and watch schlock like Supernatural!

I appreciate that Supernatural knows it's shlock, but still.

It's crazy campy, and it isn't always good but it's fun. The problem might be because I take Dexter seriously that I get pouty about it. Stuff like Supernatural or Highlander or whatever goofy scifi/fantasy I watch is usually fun insofar as it's so goofy. Dexter is supposed to be intense and have me freaking out like when Dex headbutted Doakes in the office or when he tipped the table against the Skinner or Lithgow coming into the office. Those scenes had me freaking out, heart pounding on the edge of my seat. I guess I can't expect it to ever catch that magic again.

Trapt. Dude. This is gonna be a good season I think. Last season just didn't have the umphhh behind it like other seasons. Colin hanks never should of been cast in my opinion. But you can see what they are going for already this is gonna be a good season and I suspect it's gonna get much more edge of your seatish too.

Funny, viewers of Mad Men season 2 would have said the same thing. Sometimes family connections is all you need, though.
