Been watching American Dad! on Netflix lately. It's pretty terrible, but so is most modern television. Also been re-watching Game of Thrones because they put all 4 seasons on demand.My mom keeps telling me to try Hannibal, anybody have any opinions on that?Also, new seasons of Archer and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia start next month. The League was renewed for a 7th and final season, I have still yet to watch season 6. And new Workaholics starts soon too, but that hasn't been truly funny since season 2.

A few eps into Hannibal, not incredible at first but heard very good things about it so going to keep up. New Sunny is good news, been rewatching that. Should try Archer again, only saw a few eps a while ago.Agreed with Az on Brooklyn 99, don't get the love for that at all.

Archer seasons 1 through 4 is some of the best animated comedy you will ever watch. IMO. Season 5 was kinda lame.

not quite TV, but this still seems liek the most appropriate thread, following all the hype i heard the first 2 podcasts of Serial. it's quite nice but nothing to go omfg crazy about, but i'll hear a couple more the next time i catch a long bus ride.

Watched an episode randomly of that. It didn't do much for me.Any thoughts on Carnivale or Defiance? Was recommended those over the holidays. And the girlfriend wants to watch Stargate SG-1 and I want nothing to do with that.

Carnivale is quite a slow-burner, takes its sweet time to get anywhere, but is pretty great, an apocalyptic good vs evil story set around dustbowl depression-era America, with a touch of Twin Peaks-esque oddness. Very well acted and intriguing... BUT it got cancelled after two seasons and the story is left on a massive cliffhanger. So, if you want to see the first two seasons of what could have been an excellent show, but be left frustrated when it ends, then go for it. Never seen Defiance or Stargate, saw the first ep of Marco Polo and it's pretty but meh.

Well said. If I remember correctly, HBO had to cancel the show due to budget expenses. Game of Thrones has thankfully been profitable enough that it hasn't run into the same problem.

Saw the first three episodes of Black Mirror. great stuff, especially the third episode.I found the first and third, more drama-oriented episodes, better than the "man's relationship with technology" episode. am i alone on this?

The only Black Mirror I really disliked was the first, pigfucking one, from memory the reality tv and life recording thing ones from the first season were great. I do like the technological ones though, thought the most recent Christmas special with Don Draper was terrific. Man vs technology is a frequent topic of the program, but it's always approached quite freshly and intelligently to me.Think my fave so far is White Bear in the second season. Intense stuff and quite different to the surrounding episodes.

i sort of see where people who hate the first episode are coming from (even the friend who recommended me the show said to skip ep. 1), but it was still good TV imo. the who did it, the will he won't he, etc.

I actually love the first episode. There is so much going on there that I feel like the show never quite reaches the amount of detail and minutia that episode has. I actually hated White Bear. It was a little too surreal and had a few too many horror film cliches for me to enjoy it. It was harder to be engrossed in it or relate to it, I guess.New season of Shameless (US) has started and I am loving it.Watched the entirety of Star Wars Clone Wars and needless to say, Anakin is a worthless character. The episodes without him are awesome; the episodes with him make you hate everyone around him for not just booting his ass to the curb. And the fact that no one realizes that Palpatine is punking them the entire time is pretty irritating. But all in all, way better than the prequel films insofar as the series is actually enjoyable. Started watched Star Wars Rebels to continue the train. It's decent, kinda cutesy insofar as it seems geared towards children more so than Clone Wars was. Clone Wars had some dark moments in it.

Loved the most recent Always Sunny episode. Apparently not a Birdman tribute, but definitely felt like it. Charlie being in charge is always amazing, and the constant belittling of Dee ("goddamn bitch") gets me every time.

agreed on White Bear. my favourites were the one with the robot guy assuming the dead guy's personality, the first ep, and the one with the lenses.the show's drama was better than its take on technology, i'd say, except for the robot/dead guy episode, which reminded me a bit of Her, but with a sort of computer remake of a human personality rather than true AI.didn't see the Jon Hamm christmas special, will one day i guess.started Sons of Anarchy, currently on season 1 ep 6. it's ok. like how nice and moral they are, running guns and shit but disapproving of rapists and "killing in cold blood". will stick with it as it's probably the easiest "great" drama to get into that i've seen, can't be arsed to make another 1-3 episode investment in a series before i get hooked.Parks & Rec's new season is pretty cool.

I watched the first 5 seasons of Sons in about 2 weeks. It was a fun ride, but certainly things wore on me. Gemma, above and beyond, grew increasingly irritating from season 3 onwards. Kately Sagal's husband is the show's creator, and by the end of the series half of her family becomes involved too. I think Sagal is fine as an actress, and Gemma was good in small doses, but her character basically takes over the show. I would have liked more development of the various club members as opposed to 'Gemma snoops around Jax's things into a plot point' repeatx1000.

I feel like when you become fed up with Sons of Anarchy you can easily transition into The Shield if you're into convoluted violence drama or go with Justified if you're up for some more plot twists and Walton Goggins' awesomeness. I just love boy soap operas.New Walking Dead = too many black people on the boat.

Shield is a good rec, was going to go back through that one soon.Better Call Saul:The after the events of BB opening sequence was a bit too obvious, but necessary to suck people in I think. A lot of buzz was generated over the show eventually going into the future again and over whom we might see. I like Michael McKean, but I'm not sure what they are going to do with his character. Jimmy seeing through the scamming kids was good stuff, and hey it is nice to see Mike, but much of the lawyering/ethics/firm stuff bored me.Episode 2 interested me a lot more because we got a lot of Tuco! Tuco had his time cut short as the Big Bad in Walt and Jesse's world, but that resolution produced the best episode in the first part of Breaking Bad. I like Tuco here: all emotion, anger, violence, and a bit of childishness. Jimmy(Saul) is on a slippery slope which is going to suck him into the world of being a dirty attorney forever, but in this particular moment, he is still a pretty innocent guy.
