Blood Tsunami aren't bad, but they're not a band I would defend by saying others are trying to sound like Slayer. I find them generally mediocre like most of the rest of new thrash, it's just that for me mediocre thrash is still good music, so I'll probably continue to listen to them.
I finally listened to Hexen for the first time and I can see what those who have mentioned them here mean. Awesome, thoroughly headbangable stuff. They sound to me what Bonded by Blood was trying for but fell kind of flat, which coming from me is saying a lot since BbB was one of my favorites of this movement until I listened to Hexen.
@metal_xxx - GWAR came long before Lordi. I can see that someone wouldn't call them thrash, but I definitely wouldn't call them NOT not thrash... Their earlier stuff has some crossover/hardcore elements and there newer stuff has some coreish parts. War Party is a good album, but in general the band exists only to be seen live, and everyone should see them live at some point. And for relevance to the thread: I saw them supported by Municipal Waste. One of the most fun shows I've been to that wasn't ska.
