Goat wroteNooo, when Django Bates starts playing Progressive Metal then the comparison will be fair, quite a bit different to comparing Chrome Hoof and another disco horde (who I assume T of P are). It all comes down to how good their songwriting is; I don't rate CH as highly as you, when all is said and done.
T of P are funk/soul- you where the one who started comparing CH to the underground funk scene so I assumed you'd know them 😛
You said, in response to me saying they were a good dancing band, that there are "underground funk bands" that would make CH seem less interesting in comparison. Given that CH aren't a funk band either, the Django/Dream THeater analogy seems perfectly legitimate!
Also, CH are fairly obviously not disco... they have those elements but to call them a disco band is pretty wayward.
Anyhoo, not to inflame the issue further, but one thing that I would say is comparable to this in many ways is Shining - Blackjazz. Both are all about teh massive grooves, both are a sort of fusion with jazz and electro elements. They sound very different but have similar attitudes to music, I would say. Except, the more I listen to Blackjazz the less I like it, as opposed to vice versa with Crush Depth.
